I have 3 points.

1) First, I'd like to say I think you chose a great title for this: "HD vs. Wii: Fanboyism Run Rampant." It doesn't just describe the current discussion, but it describes most reviewers as well. They have all grown into their jobs over the last few gaming generations of traditional gaming and are now freaking out and their fanboyism towards traditional gaming is running rampant. It's like they're scared of praising a new idea because they think they'll lose their jobs or something, so they have to praise the shinier same-old HARDER THAN EVER BEFORE. To say that GTA4 is a better game than GTA3 is not a hard stretch. But to say that GTA4 is revolutionizing the industry more than GTA3 is just total bullshit.

2) I disagree with this comment: "The Wii and HD consoles represent different facets of the video game industry. Personal opinion will put one above the other, the truth is they will both push video game technology and video game quality forward; both through innovation."

Upping the pixel count is not innovation. It happens every single generation and is expected and required, and has never not happened. It's not innovative. It's a direct result of technological advancements. Every system will be faster, stronger, smarter, and prettier than the last. That doesn't make them different. Besides, the strongest one never wins. Ever.

3) We're not supposed to bump anything ever. If you really want to bump something, you gotta disguise it with a new idea or angle so you add something to the conversation. Empty bumps are frowned upon, and should be looked at by a doctor.

Whatever... :S

@OP

Well you stated the obvious.... It really comes down to preferences and that's all there is to it. Problem is... Choking people with our own views is wrong. That's the big big big big big problem....

See bolded part.

And RubangB says that the Wii is innovating because it's the first one to utilize Motion Controls and that graphics are not innovations.. What a load of _______!

It's the first one to do it as a component of it's original design.  It combines accurate pointing, movement, and rotation with a set of very good tools.  No other console has had all the quality, variety, and quantity of motion games like the Wii has with no requirement to buy other peripherals.  Then there are the other peripherals and games in addition to that.

It's also marketed in a unique way.

Innovation isn't the gyroscope, it's what they did with it.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Sorry I editted the post. I was having problems quoting RubangB's post.

You'd find the wrong thing he said. Don't get me wrong. I'm not scrutinizing the Wii for bringing good quality motion controls to it's console. It's actually an innovation of it's time.

But is having a visual almost close to a photograph in a game for the first time not an innovation?

@Iron megalith: No it's not. Is it innovative to have 120kW engine in your car instead of 100kW?

Ei Kiinasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Better graphics are an inevitability, not an inovation. Cramming more transistors on a chip is not inovating. Cramming more processors on a chip is not inovating. These are things that will happen continuously.

What IS inovation is stepping outside the main stream of technological advancement to bring something unique to the market.

@iron_megalith:

I think it is an innovation, but not the one that was needed to sell more consoles.

Sony and MS have both done some awesome things this gen, but it wasn't what was needed to sell.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Wii Remote have changed gaming itself, now there is an alternative to pads. About Better graphics, i dont see it as innovation more of progression.

Depends though.. It has to be a first of to achieve something others haven't.

I ask you the same question is Iphone innovative? Because it certainly isn't the first one with touch a screen.

Anothe question did the consoles PS2/GC/XBOX have the same graphics as PS3/360?

FYI, you're confusing INVENTION with INNOVATION.  Nintendo didn't invent motion control but they innovated it with the wiimote.
