A rumoured price drop that may or may not be happening in three weeks is causing sales to drop.

The price drop is rumored, and very few people have heard of it. The X360 has been mostly saturated in terms of its price point...So few are going to snatch it up at its current pricing.

I do believe the zealot fanboys at your local retail stores is running around telling customers to wait until the 7th for a price cut, but the rest is not.  And it only got beat in NA by 6000 units.   That is well in the margin of error, so the question is...

Why so serious?

Most people probably don't know about the price drop yet, but they will. It's been all but confirmed in the news. People may not necessarily be waiting for the price drop right now, but they will definitely like it when it happens. Especially the holiday shoppers, which is who the price drop is going to be aimed at.
