To expand upon my reasoning, i'm upgrading simply for more storage space. 20gigs is not enough for my needs. The slight performance gains don't really matter to me, it's nice but that's not why i'm upgrading. I'm looking at these two drives -

Seagate 200GB at 7200 RPM with 16MB Cache

the main difference is HDD space & $20. I'm leaning toward the 320gb since it's only $20 more & i can get an employee discount

TravelStar is what I bought (see my thread) and it is very silent and cool running.

With the one you posted, you're overpaying for 3Gb/s you can't use.

Great drive at a great price, but no Hitachi drives for me. Reliability issues.

Seagate or WD for me. 3.0Gb/s transfer rates for 7200RPM drives are becoming the standard, even if the PS3 doesn't take advantage of it.

I'd rather pay the $70 premium for a 320GB Seagate 72k drive. When the price drops a bit more, it will be even less of an issue (although I really could use the space now: 60GB drive typically has less than 10% space free).

The second 320GB 72k drive would be my top pick if I were upgrading drives today.

I snagged a 160 GB for around 50 bucks on geeks.com

160 is probably more than I will ever use.
