Forums - Gaming - Help me figure out to do with my gaming budget.

I currently own a Wi, DS lite, and a bad ass computer, SNES, NES, N64, PS1, Dreamcast, GBA, Genesis, and a laptop.  My PS2 broke.  Sold my old 360 (RROD before 3 year warranty extension) to pay for part of a PS3, sold my 20GB PS3 for a profit.

New HDTV - Probably:

Smaller good 720p - example Bravia $690 - 32"

Smaller cheap - example Vizio $520- 32"

Larger cheap 720p - ex. Vizio 42" - $750

Larger cheap 1080p - example Polaroid 46" $990, Polaroid 42" $800, Vizio 42" $900

Here are my console options -

(1) Xbox 360 Pro or Elite and PS2

(2) PS3 with BC (doesn't have to be complete, all the games I want to play work on PS3-80GB-MGS4

I like JRPGs so 360 is what I'm leaning towards but I am looking forward to Versus and would prefer FFXIII on bluray.  I won't buy a used PS2 or 360.  I would buy a used PS3.  I will probably be getting the other console in a few months when I get my annual bonus from work.

The rest will go towards games.  I like JRPGs, platformers, hack n' slash/brawlers, traditional racing, but I am pretty open to anything.

Please no suggestions about PS3 or 360 being better.  I am getting both sooner or later.  I know all the arguments.

Please do not suggest games you haven't played.(Edit: I'm already planning on getting IU, LBP, LR, etc.  You don't need to list them)

Please list the TV you think I should get, the system, and some games. (I already owned: Perfect Dark Zero, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Motorstorm, Darkness, and some others that you probably won't recommend anyway.)

I appreciate your help.  If any of you live in Orlando or are planning to visit in late September/Early October , PM me for an invitation to my HDTV-HDConsole party.  (Party tip: Captain Morgan will be attending)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Yes, I screw up every thread topic title.

Well if you are going to get the other console in a few months, get the 360 now to play JRPGs that are on it already and get the ps3 later.  Not like FF coming out anytime soon

Scullio, that's what I've been thinking, but I am still open to suggestions. What about the TV?

i would get a 360 elite if you are planning on burning your games to your harddrive, if not then get the pro. you can burn some games with 60 gigs.

I don't know too much about tvs but I think the 32" is a bit on the small side imo.  Go with one of the larger tvs and just base it on how much you really want to spend.

Get the Vizio 720p 42"

With your preferences being JRPGs, the 360 is the more logical choice for now. It'll allow you to wait for the PS3's next price cut and the release of the Final Fantasy games. However, how many RPGs haven't you played on PS2? That lineup of RPGs puts the 360's lineup to shame.

Smaller good 720p - example Bravia $690 - 32"- Just because I'm sure it has better quality then the others.

As for systems I would go with the 360 and ps2. You should get a ps3 sometime in 2009...

Games: Ninja Gaiden 2, Mass Effect.

Should you decide to go with the PS3, I would hold some money for Motorstorm: Pacific Rift.

Other than that, I can't really think of any advice for you :P

Can I recommend you some GC games? :)

He said he likes JRPGs. Why would you recommend him Gamecube games silly rabbit? Gamecube had one of the saddest RPG lineups ever.
