Forums - Microsoft - What do bad reviews for "Too Homan" mean for the Xbox 360?

Another one of these threads, huh? The July NPD numbers meant the end for the 360, so a bad game does too, right?

Sarcasm aside, I think Too Human is one of the weirdest situations I've seen in a long time. I have never seen a game where people are trying SO HARD to like it. Even I got sucked into it. I downloaded the demo, and at first glance it seems like an awesome game. The cut scenes look gorgeous, the combat is cool, and the all around vibe of the game is good. Then I tried actually playing the game and I just couldn't wrap my head around it. The controls were maddening. I always think the mark of good controls is when I forget all about the controller and I'm not thinking "X does this and Y does this". If a game has truly good controls, you can probably get to that point within a half hour of playing. I played all the way through the Too Human demo and I don't feel like I ever got the hang of it.

People wanted so much for this game to be good. I probably wasn't going to buy it either way, but I found myself rooting for it too. And I still don't even fully understand why.

I don't even own a 360 and I am/was rooting for this game because I liked Eternal Darkness so much.  I also like Norse Mythology and Cyberpunk.  And I am a graphics whore. (Remember my ridiculous PC,which is a little less ridiculous since GPUs have increased in performance in the last 12 months, but you know what I mean.)

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Haze far more hyped than Too Human? I've been hearing about Too Human and how it was going to be yet another great game from Silicon Knights since 2005. It's been hyped about as much as Halo 3 over the years. So the fact that Ninja Gaiden II and Too Human have both turned out to be disappointments and that the 360 hasn't had a AAA title since Mass Effect ( which in its own way was a bit of a critical disappointment) is a shocking development.   However, Gears of War 2 will be a game that does live up to its hype and will receive AAA review scores from most publications.

Some impressive hyperbole.

As hyped as Halo 3? You are kidding right? The only game that had Halo 3 like hype this generation was GTA IV. Nothing else comes close.

Debating with fanboys, its not
all that dissimilar to banging ones

Nothing.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

i dont understand why the reviews come as a surprise, between the 10 year development cycle, and the unreal 3 engine wooplah,i mean what did you expect?it was probably doomed from the start.but hey have to release it sometime.get something for the game.right?

It'll just have an impact in fanboy forums. Notice the over abundance of Microsoft pushing this title on TV and on the web?

Yeah, me neither.

It wont even remotly give a bad image of the 360, just a bad image of Dyack, I would like to see his response on GAF now that he put his foot all the way in his mouth.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

Not much...

Former something....

Doesn't mean too much, except the fact that when people said that the game sucked, they were right.

it doesnt do anything to the conosle, its just a bad game thats it. i had hope for haze, i took one look at ign's review and felt disappointed and that took away my purchase, but that didnt take away any luster from my ps3.

Huh??? The concept was VERY cool, and the 4-player mode was also a big selling point, so scrapping that was a big bummer. WRT the demo, I thought the controls were not as efficient as they could have been, but in many respects, I found them to be somewhat like DMC4 in "getting the hang of." In the demo, once i acutally spent a few minutes getting a hang of the control, it strated to really click for me, and I, for one, have already purchased the game at BB ,and I can't wait for it.  I'm not sure what all this...."I have never seen a game where people are trying SO HARD to like it..." is all about.  I've PLAYED the demo, and based on that, I've BOUGHT the game...so what's trying about it...I DO like it.  Money talks, and that's going to be the true measure of whether it's deemed a success and the speed to which we get the CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE sequels.

Another big xbox-game turns out to be a disappointment.
