Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo on MMORPGS

Correct, but PS3 and Xbox360 are like PClite, it would make sense on the surface that they could as far as gaming is concerned handle the functions of a PC during a gaming session to a lesser extent.

The core elements of game play are there, the PS3 has in game XMB and Ipod all that's left for that platform is in game web browsing.

Diablo definitely isn't a MMORPG.

On the other hand I seriously doubt that there will be any MMORPG on this generation of consoles. Ye Ye I know Sony is working on something but that project isn't even sure that it will see daylight.

Huh? Final Fantasy XI and Phantasy Star Universe are both on the 360. Sony has two they're working on and 360 is supposedly getting another three joint ventures with the PC; APB, Champions Online and Age of Conan.

My bad for missing the 360 ones. Me not hearing about them tells about how unimportant they are though. Still, it's a good step towards having some decent console MMOs in the upcoming years.

I find porting PC MMOs to consoles being stupid, theres no chance they could work. AOC for example isn't even working on PC but thats another story.

MMO genre needs to be reinvented for the consoles because some concepts have to change in order for them to have success. Straight porting will never work I believe.

I think the key is not overcomplicating the controls. I heard that was one reason why FFXI works well on consoles, but I have no personal experience with the game to know if that's true. I know APB and Champions Online are both being created with the mentality that they'll have to conform to a gamepad in the future, and that I think will help keep the controls a little simpler. With Sony publishing their own MMO's, you can be rest assured they will make sure they are made to work well on a Dualshock.

Right. But thats Microsoft and Sony pushing for this. My money are on the fact that Nintendo won't push and they will wait at least until Wii 2 for their first MMORPG.

You guys are forgeting I said 2nd or 3rd party, not 1st party, as far as first party goes Nintendo isn't in the position to make an mmorpg, however a 2nd party could in the form of Nexon which could lead into that direction for Nintendo anyway.

Remember software doesn't have to apply the friend code system, and to date no software has fully explored the functionality of the Wii, not even Nintendos.

They could try one, not saying they have to. One isn't needed at all, but all genres should be touched in some way.

Just give default forms of speech, like Internet Checkers. I have played games online where language can be prohibited too. There can be mods for the game too in servers (if they would have any).

1000 Wii Points a year or 100 Wii Points a month is the perfect and most reasonable price range. If you can't find $10, how did you find $50 for the game and waste it if you could do nothing with it?

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Actually Nexon in my opinion was the originator of DLC, they don't charge for service directly, if you want all of the cool looking equipments and items that help you can purchase them with tangible money.

The microtransactions add up in their case and now they are a multi-million dollar company.
