Forums - Gaming - Is the fact Wii has no DL demos hurt 3rd party games?

Just throw it out there.

When games like Force Unleashed, Uncharted, Burnout bringing their demo out. So people like myself who own the system can try it out before deciding on it. In one way, it brings out more hype. Another way, it's a great way to get some exposure to the gamers directly.

Is the fact Wii doesn't have an hard-drive and therefore unable to have vast amount of third party demo games.... hurting third party games' exposure? Who knows, but it sure is possible.

I would've loved to see how will Z&W or NMH, and for that matter, Mad World do if they give fans a few weeks to try out their demo before release date.

I don't think it has much of an Impact, but it might have a slight effect. I guess we will see depending on how big the storage solution Nintendo is making is, and if they will start allowing demos. I do like demos though, and would love them for the Wii.

Demos do help sales... or hurt sales. It's kinda like a hit or miss hype machine ya know... can work for ya or against ya. So I think Wii not having it could help Wii 3rd party games that don't get the advertising they deserve but the big brand ones like Star Wars it really wouldn't matter. But Z&W and NMH would have definitely benefited from it.

I think they replace that with the gameplay video channel. Maybe because they know about the storage problem thats what is stopping them from have DL demos but maybe when they solve the problem they may add it in.

Maybe they could stream demos in the same way they stream videos? Of course you will have to have a fast internet connection though. Also depending on the size of the demo there might be problems. Though I am going to guess that Wii game demos would be significantly smaller than that of an HD game.

OMG another wii thread by kingofwale!!!!!! ;)

idk, not playing a demo has never changed my decision to buy a game.

Not sure but it would be awesome to have DL demos maybe in the future.

Yea it matters. Totally agree with titles that need to generate interest if their new ip's. Fix it ninty

Anyone play the java level for Zack and Wiki earlier this year on the website?  I thought it was quite cool, Definetly a good idea although how do you sell that? Noone knew it was there.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Cool thing is Wii owners who do use the function get to play demos of DS games and see trailers of every Wii game, also they get to see what category that games fals in as per other Wii owners and then decide if that game is for the family or for them alone, they also get to see a user ranking of that game, and their assured that he opinions are wide as Nintendo themselves make the numbers accessible only after a set ammount of votes are acquired.

We get to see what age group liked that games the most, we even get to watch celebs have fun with the game, it's pretty cool., In some cases we can hear what the developers themsevles had to say about the games.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

You can hype a new IP easily.  Just promote it enough and also make sure the graphics are good enough
