when are they going to increase bdrom speed?

They won't do that. 14m PS3 owners with slower speed would kill them if a developer thinks only about those with faster drives and their games stutter.

you own 1700 games? With every year passing, BC becomes more and more obsolete. Unless you wanted to catch up on the games you missed last generation, or if you didn't own a ps2, BC is not a big deal. All Sony can do now is attempt to assimulate the sku's, so they become easier to understand for consumers.

I am one of the users that would even use PS1 BC in a PS3 so yes it's a big deal to me (i was buying PS1 used games right until they stopped selling them used in Gamestop in 2006 and even then i was bummed), plus i have a Xbox, GC, PS2, DC, Sega Genesis, NES, DVD and VCR between my Living room and my room so i don't want another system sitting there. And 1700 is the number of games made for the PS2, i have close to 70 games i think for the PS2 and 120 Games for the Ps1. I don't hate sony at all, i love their systems, except for the new SKU's w/o BC.

@rainbird I am aware that 40gigs weren't either. I just would rather have BC than a bigger HDD thats why i am bummed, if it was the 80gig w/ BC (even the cheap software kind, i'm not picky) i would be happy with the new SKU.

And as for a future firmware update featuring BC, i'll believe it when i see it.
