Don't give it anything until you actually see the kitten, then throw out some tuna fish or something that it would like and after it has taken a bite or two, but wants to eat more, grab it.

Be careful about feeding it. In some states, if you feed a stray animal it immediately becomes your responsibility, meaning, you own it.
Currently playing: Civ 6
I refer to Boondock Saints for proper cat care.

ok, so we finally got the kitten and took it to the human society. They were full but when walking out to our car some lady was coming in to bring her cat in. She took the kitten and we ended up taking her sickly cat to the kill shelter in hopes they can find the cat a home before killing it.

So you traded an adorable kitten for a sickly cat on death row?

nope, I have no cats. The kitten is at some women's home and the sickly cat is on death row.

How delightfully morbid. Considering the lady was perfectly willing to trade her precious cat to total strangers she just met in a parking lot in exchange for a new kitten, I have to wonder which feline got the better of that deal.
By the by, how'd you catch it in the end?
F that. Cats suck. Just ignore it and hope it becomes someone else's problem otherwise you'll have all the neighborhood strays coming to your house for food.
Ever watch that homeless episode on South Park? Same thing here.
