I doubt the Japanese had the hang of the controls the minute they started playing so why should western gamers be any differeny

But... Metal Gear Solid 1 2 and 3 sold well in the west...
I don't see how it's unfriendly to western gamers either.
It's bascially an single player MMO but fun from what i can tell. (Kinda like FF12, but better gameplay wise)
Assuming they let you connect online with your friends... i could see a lot of MMO freaks loving it...(and the $10+ they save on a monthly subscription)
It's all a matter of getting people to give it a shot though... and that takes good advertising... and likely expensive advertising.

Kaufman may have been funny to the people he wasn't screwing with but he pissed off a lot of people in the process. In the real world they call it being an asshole, on the internet its called trolling. So just spare us the comedy routine and stop actively trying to piss people off.

This is the most important thing in that article....Reading it like this it can take another couple of years before it will be released.
maybe if they released core games on core platforms then they would get that likability a lot faster.
have a lot easier time seeling an MH game on 360 or ps3, than on the wii. most people i know that own a wii play sports games or "quick round" games. not an intense game series like mh.
