Forums - Gaming - The "Tales of" series, and exactly why Vesperia is a "big deal"

Soriku said:

Yes, actually.

First of all, there is no PS3 Tales. That was just speculation on Famitsu's part because both the Wii and 360 have Tales then the PS3 might get one as well and they said to wait for the Tales conference. No PS3 Tales was announced for the PS3 at the Tales conference last month.

As for Tekken 6, that was announced before Cellius was formed IIRC.

Naruto...who knows. Highly doubt it though.

If there was ANY involvement with games, why aren't they on their site? Tell me. Or is Namco too stupid a dev to make a PS3 title without Cellius's help?

Sigh there's no point in me arguing something that hasn't been announced.  We'll see at TGS.

Oh and they are alienating their main Japanese audience. This game just won't be remembered in Japan like the others has been.

Actually, if anything, it will be. It sold more 360s to the Japanese then any other game so far in history. It already has a legacy all its own, and as far as the 360 fans in Japan are concerned, its one of they're saviors. I haven't heard anything about them alienating they're audience. They've only said they are trying to gain the west audience as well, or in other words, expand they're audience.

What are TotA and legendia remembered for?

ToV will be remembered.  I doubt the Japanese will forget it.  Look at Blue Dragon(another 360 exclusive JRPG), that game spawed a 52 episode anime series that was so popular that it got a sequel series so that tells us that the Japanese haven't forgotten about BD.

ToL wasn't that remembered at all but TotA was remember by Japanese fans as the best game in the series, atleast until Vesperia came out.

Why do you think they would do such a thing? Is it an attempt to force the 360 down Japanese throats? I wonder if MS paid them. I have no proof, but it could very well be a payoff for such a prestigious core title as ToV by the Symphonia team to be exclusive on 360.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Come to think of it, I think legendia was known for being the worst in the series, lol. Abyss didn't really have a big legacy though, like say, moving hardware like Vesperia and Symphonia did. Though it was the best in the series, and still my favorite JRPG ever. So it had more of a legacy within its fanbase, but not all too much else.

@Soriku

Eternal Sonata doesn't have the "Only on XBox 360" though...

Umm...don't they put "Only on Xbox 360" on exclusive games anyway? I mean there's no PS3 (or Wii) version planned...so I don't see why they wouldn't put "only on Xbox 360" when right now...that's the only system you can get the game.

Btw, Legendia is remembered for having the best soundtrack in the series O_o I mean I've listened to some songs but they don't sound as great as Symphonia or Destiny or Eternia. The best ToL song IMO is "Hurry". As for the actual game itself, it's a love/hate it game (kinda similar to FF VIII). You either put it really high on your list of awesome Tales games...or really low in your list of sucky Tales games.

Nope. The "Only on Xbox 360" is quite final.

Look for yourself:

Those games will be released on PS3 this year but these will never:

Tales of Vesperia didn't sell all that much compared to the other Tales games. It would have sold much better on PS3.

Anyway, I really don't care if that game doesn't sell as much as it would have in Japan because I practically bought a 360 for this game (well that and all the other JRPG).

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

@Godot Mass Effect and Gears are on PC. So I guess that "only" excludes pc right?

I seriously doubt Tales of vesperia will be going to PC. So its pretty assured that its JUST for 360.

THEN AGAIN! Looking at my Symphonia game here, it says "Only For Gamecube". Though it went to PS2. So who knows. All I know is that if it IS gonna come out for PS3, it'll probably be 2011-12. If you want to wait 3-4 years for a game that probably is never coming out for PS3, ya know, be my guest.
