ToV results are in fact really bad. I mean really really bad.
I'm sad because the only people that cheer for ToV results are people that don't care one bit about JRPG, but only care about XB360. They don't give a damn about Tales Of or other JRPG.
The purpose of a business is to acquire and keep customers. From then, you have side effects like making money that depends on how well your business is doing. But the core are the customers.
ToV, which is a mothership (main) game, did lower numbers than ToS:KoR, a gaiden (escort) game.
Keep in mind that ToS:Kor cost a lot less to make, as development was started after Wii launch, while ToV was started at least 6 months before XB360 launch. ToS already had an engine that was refined a little, ToV is a brand new engine. ToS is SD, ToV is HD. The difference in costs between the two games must be huge, at least 5 times higher for ToV. I hope MS gave them enough money.
But the worst is that this means the main series is losing lots of customers, it's just dying at this rate.
And no money hat can replace your lost customers. Losing long term value for short term money is always a very bad move. Of course, that's more poor insight, a poor bet on the future from Namdai, back in 2005.
So the XB360 has a little boost (there's your impact), and people are cheering, while the Tales Of main game is just dying before their eyes. But they don't care.
The impact of Tales Of for XB360 is insignificant. People that are saying it's a system seller are just ridiculous, it's clearly not. Only for system wars fans is this big (XB360 > PS3 yeah).
I bet it will be a temporary thing, I don't even think a western like A-RPG like IU can keep the XB360 afloat until its release.
This release alienated the fanbase for sure.
The impact of this release on Tales Of however will be far bigger and will last longer, in a bad way.
