Forums - Sony - Burnout Paradise Downloadable Via PSN. Ironic?

Why are all the 360 fans wasting their spin here, when they could be using it for our amusement in the NPD thread? :(

As in go buy us some coffee.

Microsoft talks alot about the future being DLC but doesn't do much to back up their talking.

Sony doesn't talk so much about that topic but actions speak louder than words ....

LOL SSHD is NOT a good shooter? Wow, take off ur goggles fanboy! Nobody said it was better than the "holy grail" geometry wars like u 360 fanboys make it seem like it is, but saying that it's not a "good shooter" is just blind fanboyism.

Hahaha, I didn't even mention Geometry Wars and you start shitting bricks.

Both games are decent shooters, but neither is great. I prefer GW because its actually a bit interesting and has some challenge, while SSHD is pretty generic and easy.

Neither game can touch anything that cave has put out in the past 5 years.

@badgenome, with every post u do, u make urself look worse and worse. What the TC is talking about is that, Burnout Paradise, a full retail game (and multi plat) is available for download on the psn along with Socom, Warhawk, Siren and other full retail games SSJ12 mentioned. The post that u said "And I guess you consider Ikaruga, Rez, Castlevania, Puzzle Quest, etc. etc. to be games without creativity and value" was hilarious. Yes those games are awesome and creative and have tons of value, but last time I checked, those are ALL old games that are available in other platforms (and Castlevania [I guess u r talking about Symphony Of the Night] is ALSO available on the PSN).

Yea it's reaaal easy to have alot of creative and great games when they are already released and well known for being great games, and all u have to do is port it over. Name me any other place where u can play the Pixel Junk games that are on PSN (Eden and Monsters, I think the racer was bad)? Does XBLA have a game that is completely new and exclusive to PSN and actually looks and plays like an actual retail game (Ratchet and Clank, quest for booty)?

Please, somebody PLEASE point out where I am wrong, so I can bitch slap u with facts.

Actually, IGN claims SSHD is better than GW.

"Closing Comments
Over the last two years, there hasn't been a single arcade shooter that competes with the Xbox 360's Geometry Wars. Super Stardust HD, however, changes that with its addictively satisfying mechanics, great visuals and tactical yet simplistic design. In truth, and I say this as a heavy duty Geometry Wars player myself, Super Stardust HD is not only just as good as Bizarre Creation's it's in many ways better."

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Tekken DR Inlne, GT5P, Warhawk, Fatal Inertia Ex,Siren Blood Curse,Socom Confrontation, Pixeljunk Eden, Pixel Junk Monsters,Flow(Best selling PSN game to date), SSHD,Pain, amd many more are all excellent titels only available on the PLAYSTATION NETWORK and not to mention all the full and small scale titles released on the PSP SONY is definitely on the head of the curve at releasing quality Dowloads.

Not to say that it is superior to XBLA offerings though it has a more stnadout lineup...

I thought that the ironic thing was that Sony takes massive losses to include a bluray drive in the PS3 (while jacking up the price of the hardware for gamers) and now publishers are bypassing it completely with top-quality games.

"Complety", Oh yeah because Every PS3 game can be downloaded Via PSN ;) Its The fact that M$ says Digital is the future ( Its Mind Boggling Why they even supported HD-DVD, Maybe they're covering their Tracks ;) yet SONY gives the consumer the option of downloading a select number of games.

I find it ironic that while Microsoft is boasting about how downloadble content is the future of the industry and that Sony is the only one actually usng it.

I find it ironic that after championing Blu-Ray for games and movies and claiming DLC cannot trump either anytime soon, Sony is helping to render the format moot.

Lets see...

Asteroids clone - mang, that hasn't been done a million times before. Especially in the past 3 years.

3 types of fire and 3 types of enemies - talk about original.

Neverending wave of the same kinds of asteroids/enemies. Talk about originality.

The game reuses bosses. Speaking of which the game has no real mini-bosses, or really anything beyond colliding asteroids and some mildly annoying enemies. Like I've said before, this game is a fucking cake-walk even on the higher difficulties.

Fucked up hitbox. What the hell is the point of making this smaller as the level progress. Oh, right, its to make the game easier while screwing with what the player has already gotten used to.

The odd part about this game is all the stuff thats been a staple of shmups for over a decade isn't present;

No bullet eating mode? Well thats understandable since this game is just a pretty version of asteroids.

No way to combo/chain of scores? Why the fuck wasn't this included? Do they have a thing against adding some strategy and skill to a game.

No multistage bosses? Oh, right, that might make things hard yet entertaining.

No suicide bullets? Oh, right, again with the challenge thing.

I realize that this is a remake of some Amiga game that lost what little relevance it had ages ago. Still, you would think that they'd at least try to add in some of the current staples of the genre. Now I don't have anything against a game trying to duplicate an 'old school' type of experience, but that only works when the core gameplay shines. SSHD is a very dated game with jazzy graphics that can't make up for the boring gameplay.

One last thing - feel free to call me a member of the MDF even though I think Everyday Shooter is fantastic. In fact its probably my favorite downloadable title after Braid. The 360 does have a far better catalog of shooters at this point, but most of its remakes. This may change when Treasure releases they're new game on it, but until then the DC is still the place to get great shumps for good prices. The PC also has a plethora of great doujin shooters, and emulators are always an option.
