Forums - Microsoft - My friend is getting a 360 for mass effect!

He should buy the 360, and enjoy the games. I do agree though that the controls on the PC version of mass effect are better, that coming from a HUGE fan of the game on 360

Currently running Bioshock (1220x720), Mass Effect (1440x990) and CoD4 (1220x720) using not only an 8600 GT but an 8600M GT and you should use a keyboard and mouse for the PC version should you not?

Also heres a Dell with twice the HD space of an Elite for just $20 more that will run both games. It also has 7.1 audio. I plugged my Computer directly into my TV and Surround Sound system just like I would a 360. This is a much better deal.

Don't call me an unhelpful troll again.

First off, Dells are garbage.  Much better off building your own.

Second, you do not want to run Vista on that pc, downgrade to XP.

Third, Shipping and Handling.  $35 for 3-5 day most likely.

Fourth, 7.1 from that computer hooked up to a receiver even remotely decent will sound like garbage.  And what kind of audio outs does that thing have with integrated audio?  More than likely something rubbish.

Fifth, what kind of video outputs does that thing have?? DVI? HDMI?  Because anything else will look like garbage on an HD tv.

That is not a very good computer at all.

^Nothing but (uninformed) opinion in the post above.

First off, total opinion no facts or information to back it up. I'll grant you though that it is usually cheaper to build your own.

Second, with a dual core and 2GB Ram there is no reason why this computer couldn't run Vista properly. Are you in the camp that hates it because it isn't XP?

Third, Shipping has been free on most Dell computers for years.

Forth, I have an integrated sigmaTel HD sound card that sounds excellent coming through my surround sound system.

Fifth, I have mine hooked up through VGA to my Television and get great resolutions with no artifacts or tearing. Besides that Video card comes with an HDMI port.

Good for him he should find many more games that he should like.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

You can buy a decent PC that can run Mass Effect andd Call of Duty 4 at the same price as a 360 now days. Plus he'd save $20 on the games themselves buying both CoD4 and ME for $50 (or less) rather than $60.

I know he won't but I thought I'd mention it.

 No you can't.

A PC up to running those games at medium settings is going to cost you 2.5-3x as much as a 360.

I challenge you to spec me a PC that will do what you say, or even near what you say.

You mean without as monitor, right? Well, here I go:

RAIDMAX ATX Mid-Size Case               $21.99

EXCELSTOR 80GB HDD (Oh well, it's more than most 360 SKUs)     $34.99

ASUS Micro-ATX AMD Mobo                 $48.99

EVGA 8600GT                                (with $20 mail-in-rebate) $49.99

ROSEWILL 550wt PSU                       $49.99

CORSAIR 2GB RAM                             $34.99

AMD Athlon 64X2 5000+ 2.6Ghz        $66.00

______________________________________________

TOTAL: $306.94

DOES NOT INCLUDE KEYBOARD/MOUSE (I assume you already have those...)

ALSO: You can put a couple more fans in the case for $10-$20 more, if you want...

Don't forget an optical drive and a copy of Windows (pirating doesn't count).

That is not a very good computer at all.

My laptop is similar spec and runs Vista fine.  But I don't do any hardcore gaming on my laptop.  It has one of the Pentium dual cores in it, and I'm not overly impressed with it, but it gets the job done.  I'm just a little spoiled by my Core 2 Quad on my tower, that's all.  :)

Oh look, another 360 thread has been hijacked by the get a computer instead debate...

Maybe people don't want to buy a brand new computer when they already have one? Maybe people would also like the other 360 games that aren't on PC? Maybe people would rather sit on a couch holding a game controller in front of a TV than sit in a desk chair over a keyboard and a PC monitor?

maybe this is no better than trolling a PS3 thread saying that it serves no purpose other than a bluray player?

if someone is buying a game system, be happy for them. Any other response is just kind of sad.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

LOL RROD is not over, not even close! It just happened to a friend of mines like 3 weeks ago. Someone came into the store with one like 2 days ago. It most definitely is not over. RROD is here to stay i am afraid.

As long as constant hardware failure doesnt matter, he has made a good choice. Mass Effect is the only game on the 360 I want but cannot have(unless I get forr PC). If that is the only thing he wants than fine, if not I say he should re evaluate his purchace....

Yeah and YLOD is not over either... thats the idiotic thing about naming electronics issues after a generic error code. The error codes still going to exist long after the problems been sorted out, im sorry you couldn't figure that one out for yourself.

Tease.

only ps3 fanboys would say rrod is not over. :p
