Not really. Last Gen did just fine when majority of games were exclusive to there respective systems. That is why I believe last gen games were of a better quality. This gen games ARE more exspensive to make, this is true. But MultiPlat is not the only way to go in recouping losses. That is what shovelware is for(Wii anyone?). It is ok to have the year around games be multi, as they usually don't have as much money put into them. Liscense games are an example of these, they sale farely well(as bad as they actually are) and are a proven area of cash flow. It is the BIG titles I dont want MultiPlat (FFXIII,Halo3, GOW3,GeOW2,R2) as these are the masterpieces of gaming. They are the type of games people wait YEARS for. Going MultiPlatform takes away the magic, and full spec quality of these titles. At least that is what I believe. A multiplatform game cannot use full specs of a console due to developers always doing them best to make all encomposing titles "Equal" to keep rabid fanbases at bay. |
For starters, I am not so sure that a majority of games were exclusive last generation. I'd be willing to bet against that, actually. But either way, this generation is not last generation: there is no PS2 style 800 pound gorilla, and HD games are much more expensive to make. So you'd probably better get used to multiplats.
And Gears is multiplat.
