Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft's way of earning more green

Everyone remember halo coming out for the ds right. Everyone was syked about it then it got cancelled. Now the ds has more than 75 sales, so microsoft should just let bungie continue what they were doing. Even though they don't they a official handheld, continuing the project would make them 100-1000 million dollars richer. Seriously, does anybody think it'll be a good idea.

You think most of the 75 million in sales went to little kids? Seriously?

Microsoft is one of those companies which is more interested in control than quick, easy money.

In other words, while they would certainly net a nice slice of profit out of the deal, certain strategic considerations leave the idea dead in the water.

Well, they did put Viva Pinata on the DS to help expand the franchise. There's not really any sense in doing that with something as popular and well-established as Halo, though.

When Microsoft purchased Rare they purchased a developer that also had an internal studio for portable gaming. So there is ample incentive for Microsoft to carry on business as usual.

there was a halo for the ds but it wasnt finished (got cancelled) but now with 70 million ds users at least 10 will buy halo and more player will buy a ds and halo. There might even be a halo ds.
