Forums - Microsoft - Some really cool Tales of Vesperia gameplay and combos

That looks complicated. Are those massive combos relative to the enemies hit points? In other words, are you expected to be doing those in order to win?

Nah, the combat system is very deep and you can win in a number of ways. In ToS, you could actually set everyone to AI control.

Granted your team sucked, but they could win random battles.

The Tales battle system for ToS, and TotA was always deep and rewarding.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Interesting, never played any Tales games before, might have to try out the demo.

That looks rally dumb. The only reason I would buy this game is for the pipe smoking dog.

IGN should contact you to write their Playstation 3 reviews. I've sent them this sample of your work. Your checks will arrive on the second Monday of each month.

Yeah man, I remember that. You started in your village and have to transverse the mist, lol. There was a sequel also that I played.

Legend of Legia was great, the combo system it had was what made the game so. I liked the sequel also.

@OT: Tales of Vesperia looks fantastic. I have no doubt it'll sell well. I played ToS for the Gamecube and liked it for its combat system. I didn't get hooked on the story so much because it was too cliched.

Every Tales is cliched. You know that right?

This looks really cool.

@Jagged

Trust me...it's not that complicated. You do normal attacks with one button and you map special attacks to other buttons (of course, you can't just map them to ANY button. You map them to specific buttons. Not sure what buttons you map special attacks with on the 360 though). As you elvel up you can learn more and more special attacks so you can combine a good number of special attacks. Also, your party memebers can be AI controlled unless someone else is playing with you.

Also, you are expected to use special attacks. It's a must. Regular attacks won't get you anywhere. You have to chain regular attacks to special attacks for more damage. At the same time you should heal and keep your party alive for as long as possible.

lol, I bet this video had you drooling.

Cough troll.

@above comment: From what the guys over at the tales forums have said, Symphonia 2 was dissapointing, and Vesperia was amazing. My favorite was Abyss, but Symphonia 1 wasn't too bad.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Well, maybe that's why it doesn't sell well. Looks good, but lacks substance. imo

I have yet, after playing 6 Tales games, to play a Tales game that "lacks substance", if by substance your talking about depth. If by substance you are talking about crappiness, there is only really one crappy Tales game, so I guess they do lack substance imo.
