Forums - Nintendo - The WII NEEDS A FIRMWARE UPDATE

The WII needs an update to have more channels and to let you keep the channels on your SD Card not just on the internal memory.  The internal memory is way too small, now each time I download something I have to go and copy something from the internal memory to the memory card, then delete it, and then go back to the store and download.

This is just frustrating and painful!

In addition, the wireless only seems to work properly on channel 10... why.. i dunno!  But until i switched my router to channel 10 i always had connection problems, now I don't.. (i'm not sure this can be fixed with a firmware update.. but certainly the channels and being able to play/download games directly to the SD card could be!).

yes, i agree. i ran out of space almost a year ago. and i stopped downloading things because its a hassle transferring data. hopefully by the end of the year we'll have a solution.

hmmm just checked the :
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/onlineWirelessRouterTroubleshooting.jsp#channel

said channel 11 and 1 were the best .

"Wireless Channel
If there are other wireless devices in the area, they can interfere with the signal so much that the Wii console will not be able to connect to the router. Changing the wireless channel on your router may help. Most wireless routers have a channel range of 1 through 11. The best channels to try are usually 1, and 11, as they do not overlap with other channels. Typically, the channel settings for your router will be found in the router's main "Wireless" tab."
