Do you think it will be at $588?

I predict the PS3 price will be the same as before or it will be reduced by $50. The PS3 sells extremely well in PAL region, especially Europe. A price cut on the PS3 in the North American region later on in the year is more likely than a European/PAL PS3 price cut. PAL consumers pay more for consoles due to having smaller video game markets than both US and Japan.
Well all consoles and games are expensive in Australia compared too the US and Japan so hopefully Sony will pull the price down to a more respectable cost. Will it happen? Don't hold your breath.
Well considering how we are usually treated down here I would expect $800+ for the 80gb, and I wouldn`t be suprised if it retails at $999. I hope I`m wrong but when was the last time we Aussies paid a reasonable price for a game, game peripheral or console?
The 40gb may get its priced reduced, but again it wouldn`t be much more than $50, if that.
I'm thinking it (80gb) will be around $750au, Cheap when you think i paid $988 for my 60gb launch day...
I dont think they'll try selling them above $800 again...
I also doubt the 40gb will be below $600.
I always look for a woman who has a tattoo. I see a woman with a tattoo, and I’m thinking, okay, here’s a gal who’s capable of making a decision she’ll regret in the future.
It will be $200+ what the rest of the world pays, just import FTW.

I agree with you on the price and if I'm lucky I usually get a good deal on games but only when i buy them at Big W.
Pacman taught people to run around in dark rooms munching on pills while listening to repettive techno music and for that I somewhat idolise him.
I don't think it'll be cheaper than the 40gb, I mean, that'd be Sony middle-fingering everyone that bought the 40gb.
Also, I'm pretty sure sony wants to make a profit, so even if costs of making the 80gb is the same as the 40gb (assumption), them charging for the extra space would not be out of the ordinary, as the public probably understands that it would cost more to have more space.
I mean, look at the 360 Pro and Elite. I'm pretty sure the only 2 differences are colour and one has a bigger HDD, yet MS charge more for it.
I doubt it'll be $999 though, I'm going to say $799
