Forums - General - Why I think abortion is wrong...

By the way RTC, here's a map of countries and their abortion laws; as a fun exercise, try to point out the ones that were originally happy and civil democracies, but turned to fascist states after the legalization of abortion?

I am anti murder. The question is, when is abortion murder. When is a fetus a life?

Is it at birth? Is it at the point when it can think for itself? is it when it can live on it's own?

As some point, it's a life, but until that point, it's not murder, it's a part of the mother, and as much as the mother is allowed to do anything with her body, she can remove this part of it.

So for me, if you want to abort a pregnancy at a very early stage, I am ok with that. When it becomes murder, I take issue.

@ Onyxmeth - "She paid for it"?

He means she payed the doctor to have the procedure done.

EDIT: err, maybe.. now that I re-read that, he might mean he did something to her because of it.

I believe in abortion especially after birth.

@Stof

It's not legal on request in the UK? I thought it was... oh well.

I didn't read the article because my computer doesn't accept those types of files.

I am for abortion when there are certain circumstances. If she was raped, than she should be able to abort. If there was a condom tear, or the birth control didn't work, she should be able to abort.

For those who are saying it is murder. Using a condom is preventing potential life. Do you find that immoral as well? What about birth control?

A sperm and an egg by itself cannot turn into a child. Once they are joined, they can. That is the difference.

But Im sure most Pro-Life supporters are in favor of abortion for the extreme circumstances: rape, incest, potential harm to the mother.

But condom tearing, or birth control not working, are not good reasons because there is no way to prove it. Any girl can say the condom tore, even if they didnt and could get an abortion. Its not a plausible option for that.

Well, this isn't the first abortion thread this site has seen.

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=14835

Personally, I would rather read through the 9 pages of that thread than the 20+ of your one point of view link. Below is my response from that thread's page 5.

I have to say pro both.

I will not allowing anyone within my family to have an abortion unless it was going to kill them. However, I am not God nor am I owner over anyone's body or soul except mine and my child's, until they are adults.

Since there are too many possible reason's of why someone may want/need an abortion I could not justify an outright ban. To do so would also have a proven affect of not stopping abortion. Only increasing the rate of which women die or get gravely sick seeking illegal and dangerous back alley abortions. So, you would lose 2 lives rather than 1. I would rather focus on teaching pre-teens and teens about sex, its dangers, repercussions, and alternatives. This includes descriptively showing what happens to a fetus during an abortions, various STD's, and so on. Education is the key to any social problem.

However, the reason I say I would not allow anyone within my family to do so, is because if it came down to it I would adopt the child, as any family should do for their own. The purpose of a family is to care and support one another, so if anyone in your family should become unexpectedly pregnant, they should receive the assistance of all of the rest of the family. Now, they should also be forced on birth control and forced to put the child first.

Now, the problem is too many people will not help anyone else, let alone their own family. That is the crippling factor of our "modern" society. Too much separation and not enough family unity.

For those of you who say a person is not alive until they are physically born. That is just ignorant. A doctor can get a fetus to react to stimulus in as little as a few weeks after conception. That alone proves the fetus is alive. It is breathing in the liquids around it, eating, excrementing, reacting, and thinking. All signs of life.

1) A sperm and an egg by itself cannot turn into a child. Once they are joined, they can. That is the difference.

1) If a condom was not being used, nor was the birth control, then a life could have been made.

Abortion, condoms, and birth control are ways of not having a child. The only difference is the time when it is stopped. Condoms and birth control are before a pregnancy ever happens. Abortion is during the pregnancy.

2) Yeah. I agree with that point.

3) It all really depends on the sincerity of the mother. If the condom did tear or the birth control didn't work, she should be able to abort.
