Forums - Sales - At this rate, how much time would it take for the PSP to catch the DS in JP

PSP will never catch up with the DS I'm afraid, to assume it will keep going strong forever is pretty presumptuous especially considering how the far more appealing DS was able to slow down.

The math is about right. The problem is the PSP doesn't seem to be following the rules: it got a massive bump when the TV tuner was launched, an even bigger one when Monster Hunter came out, and it's only slowly dying. Unless something else comes along soon, it'll back at parity with the "saturated" DS three months from now, and below it by next year.

But like I said, it's its own little beast, so it might surge again at any moment.

ff13 agito, parasive eve 3, dissidia, kh:birth by sleep

those are 4 huge bumps.

^and then what will sustain the sales?

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Bumps that we will not take advantage of for atleast another year.
