Forums - Gaming - The ultimate question - Real time strategies or turn based strategies?

What will you choose?

Me, well I like both, but I think turn based works better for me as it allows me time to formulate a strategy, I tend to perfom better with games like Advance wars and Civilization.

"Total War" strategy

Time to Work !

Real time. Final Fantasy abandoned turn based for FF12, so we should all follow suit

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Turn based without a doubt. That genre is filled with strategy games that are classics to this day... Civilization series, Master of Orion 1&2, Heroes of Might and Magic series, Warlords, Fantasy General, Steel Panthers... the list goes on.

There are considerably less worthy games on the RTS genre IMO.

Starcraft.

Real time. If i have to think too fast I have to know the controls and what to do/build fast and I never do so I always end up sucking really bad.

Just like trying to play an FPS with keyboard and mouse. The mouse is ok, but I can´t for the life of me, use the damn keyboard. Give me a joystick option, dammit.

Turn based.

It's not really strategy if you don't have time to think. :P

Both.

(Civilization I-IV, Dune II and Warcraft II are still my favourites)
