Didn't it turn out to be a third party motion controller?

Hopefully it doesn't exist. Theres not a single part of me that doesn't want Motion control in out quality games for the 360. It works in Wii minigames, but I couldn't play Gears of War with a wiimote.

As for Halo Wars control, what about it?

I don't see why you couldn't it used for Gears. It has already proven to be far better at shooters than the traditional controler.

It will appear at some future date...

But, I hope it doesn't appear this year. Microsoft will do fine without it.

They need to make sure that if they ship one, they have the games to support it.

I doubt it will come this gen, I think all the rumors were merely rumors

Shadowblind, play the PS2/GC version of RE4 then play RE4: Wii
Alternatively Metroid prime 1 or 2 on GC then move up to MP3 on the Wii
The Wiimote is brilliant for shooters

Halo Wars could even have usb mouse + keyboard support (I'm assuming that's possible on the 360, if I'm wrong feel free to correct me)

Perhaps they cancelled it after Nintendo announced Wii Motion Plus? It's a bit of a conspiracy theory, but look at the timing of Nintendo's announcement, right before E3 was starting. It's not totally crazy to think that Microsoft might have postponed their plans after seeing that.

Otherwise, it may also have been just an unfounded rumour... Maybe we'll never know.
