Spreading more information about upcoming PC titles :)

Huxley is an MMOFPS. Based on "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley (you probably read the book in middleschool or early high school), this game is set in a dystopic world with three rival factions. It's made by Webzen, a Korean developer with a tradition for massive farming games... so I'm a little suspicious, but we'll see. I desperately want to find a highly polished MMOFPS :p

This game is also coming out on the 360, but like Far Cry, Everquest or the recent "Command and Conquer 3", the lead platform is PC.

True but the 360 version is the only one with a campaign mode... They both have exclusive content though so it'll be interesting to see how they turn out,

You know Legend, I still don't think Consoles are entirely ready for MMOs of any kind. Xbox live is clearly where they WILL go when the time comes, and I know that 6 million online players seems like alot, but then consider that WoW has almost 9 million subscribers all by itself -- in other words, a single game on the PC has 50 percent more online users than the entirety of Xbox Live. Then factor in Steam (13 million users), Lineage (heavy Asian use), Starcraft, Unreal Tournament... it's still a long way to go.

I hope I'm wrong, honestly. Perhaps the time for console MMOs have come. But I suspect not, and I think that we'll still be seeing PC dominate the genre for some time until Console gamers catch up technologically.

I'm keeping a close eye on this one, I'm trying not to get too hyped but it looks alot more interesting then Planetside was.

I don't understand your comment about console gamers catching up technologically, I'm going to assume you mean their consoles and it's obvious that next generation gaming consoles (at least the PS3/360) could handle MMO games easily so I don't really see what the problem is.  In fact FF 11 debuted on the PS2 so it's not like there is some technological hurdle that has to be overcome.

As for WoW you have to remember that there are more people playing it in China than in North America.  Over 3.5 million in China alone in fact...  But it's a great game and deserves it's success.  Do you feel that the same game on console wouldn't have found success?  I feel if a great MMORPG is created that the gamers will come and that it's simply that so far no MMORPGs on console have come that rival stuff like WoW.

Getting the 360 version of this if I get it.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I meant that they aren't connected to the internet with nearly the frequency or numbers as PC gamers are. And absolutely, I don't believe it's possible for WoW to have been as succesful on consoles as it is on the PC. Again, WoW isn't the only example: Valve's Steam has 13 million users, more than twice the total of Xbox live. Clearly, PC gamers are more internet ready than console gamers are.

Final Fantasy XI and Everquest are both great examples of my point. You point out the fact that FF XI was on a console as if this proves that MMOs can do well on  them. First, FF XI topped out at around 500,000 unique users, or approximately 1/18th the user base of WoW. More importantly, the PC version of Final Fantasy XI was the best selling version of the game. Meaning that at least 1/3 of those users were coming from a PC anyway.  Heck, Everquest 2 did better than Final Fantasy XI, and it was considered a relative bomb, crushed underneath the boot of the WoW juggernaut.

Again, Legend, I'm not saying that consoles won't get MMOs, and I absolutely agree that Xbox will be the first console to really have a break out MMO hit. But we're just not there yet, as console users aren't as connected as PC users are. There was actually an article on this site just recently that came to the same conclusion, if someone could dig that out?

Just to emphasize my point: Final Fantasy XI had about 500,000 members at a maximum, about 300,000 of those were console gamers. Here is a list of MMOs that are exclusive to the PC that have done better than this:

Runescape
World of Warcraft
Lineage
Lineage II
Everquest

MMOs that have done almost as well as FF XI, in the 300,000-500,000 user range:

Planetside
Everquest II
Star Wars Galaxies

This, despite the fact that there are almost certainly more PS2 users than there are high end PC users.

I'm fairly interested in this game but will wait until I learn more until I start to get excited ... Planetside really disapointed me and I have become a little skeptical that any MMOFPS can work ...

As a side note, even though the XBox 360 will have a version I don't think I would play a MMO game on a console.  There is no way you'd be able to design a client for the XBox 360 that could handle hundreds of raiders on screen at a time and still live up to the expectations people have for an XBox 360 game; good graphics cards today can still run into difficulties in WoW if you are facing a large zone raid.
