Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto To Give Keynote at Japan Developers Conference

Im afraid of game being announced and then completely left there to die. Im basing this on a lot of announcements made before the wii launched that we still no nothing about or were just tech demos or were canceled or posponed indefinitely.

devs need to make a little effort not just let games die halfway through. call me a pessimist but thats how i feel after 2 years of promises, very much like ps3 fans may feel after many delays and cancellations.

What game? Crystal Bearers? The game was shown last TGS, and was mentioned last march.

@Outlawauron Well that is how alot of Wii developers are. Half those games in the last paragraph though were announced or shown this year, and the other half were just announced or shown last year. I'm sure if the game is cancelled we would know by now. Most of the games I mentioned that haven't been shown in a while already have some confirmation in their existance anyway. I do see where you are going though. There are alot of games announced , but we know very little about them. Hopefully when we do know more about them people will see its not tha bad after all. As for Call of Duty World at War, the game seems to have alot of effort being put into it. Call of Duty 3 had 8 months of development on many more consoles, while CoD5 had 2 years on alot less consoles. Also the setting is different from alot of WWII games seeing as it is in the pacific. And call of duty 3 wasn't a bad game just not as good as others. If you look at the thread asking if people will buy the game there is an equal amount of Yes, No's and Maybes so I listed it. I am going to try th game out.

games like sadness, final fantasy cc, wii motorsports, the flying wii game, the shooting wii game, project hammer, disaster day of crisis, kirby from gamecube, rygar and some more. all were shown and announced before the wii launched, but look at them now. some cancelled and the rest no info since 2006.

The only games that I did mention were Disaster Day of Crisis(which was about to release in Japan just a few months ago, but was delayed), and Crysal Bearers( Which was shown at TGS 2007(Not 2006), and was talked about in March before the release date of the DS FFCC game). Kirby Wii started development on the gamecube in like 2003 so I didn't expect it. NEver heard of Wii Motorsports, and Project Hammer was canned because of development issues. Rygar was delayed, but that was because they wanted to make it a new game and not a port of the PS2 version. Also for Crystal Bearers. Look at the 2006 TGS trailer, then look at the 2007 TGS trailer. They definitely switched the priority of the game after realizing the Wii's dominance. They also probably wanted to Incorporate crystal tools and that is why its taking so long.

You make a lot of assumptions nothing of that is even official just speculation...

Wii motorsports was talked about by nintendo along with a shooting and a flying game that were shown. while project hammer and disaster were shown but now disappeared. Disaster is cancelled by now probably, it had a lot of troubles as nintendo said.

Kirby wii also disappeared misteriously, as did project hammer. Maybe nintendo doesnt want to release more than 5 games / year for the wii, but they are mistaken since third parties barely released anything and as outlawauron said we dont know a thing about those games yet.

sadness i feel is also cancelled along with rygar which was a 2007 game. I didnt know it was a port :( now i dont want that crap

I really despise the new policy of not announcing games until there is 3 months left. whats the point of that?????? now see in japan the latest games released for the wii by nintendo are selling poorly (batallion wars, metroid prime 3, fatal frame, wario land, TV show king, starfi, soma bringer, family jockey, super mario sluggers) along with lots of other third party titles. the only succesful titles were smash and mario kart this year from nintendo and some DS games. Nintendo has some strange policies going on and i want to figure out whats the point. I hope its not for avoiding being copied because that would be very dumb.

Well tell me. Don't you notice a difference?

Before

After

The budget of the game seemed to increase significantly. And it looks more like a final fantasy main series game. Actually are those even the same Main Characters? They look like two greatly different games to me.

Project Hammer was announced as cancelled, I already explained kirby wii. Sadness probably didn't even start development at all.  Rygar WAS a port, but they decided to make it a new game so that is why it was delayed until next year. I don't know why Nintendo would cancell disaster when they were about to release it 2 months ago. That would be a huge waste of money. They even said it was delayed. THey never said cancelled.

As for the sales in Japan, Fatal Frame 1, 2, and 3 sold about the same on the PS2. Metroid has been in a decline in Japan with every title released. Soma Bringer sold fairly well. The rest I either agree, or they are just shovleware.

I see they changed the settings of the game, the previous game was very kiddie looking as shows the frist trailer which btw is the worst ive seen from square enix. i hope now that they finished ffcc ds and wii ware that they announce this game will be ready for this holidays :)

off topic: but what games from nintendo are going to get released after animal crossing in japan? I know captain rainbow, wii music and animal crossing are going to get released this year there, but after october?

and what big third party games is wii going to see this year there? sorry but Im fairly new and i may sound like an ingorant :S

I want to know how is it possible for wii to sell that much in japan with very few games getting released and a lot of them selling very very bad.

There might be more I forgot about.

why care so much about the casuals? they are guilty now of losing a huge chunk of the core audience from the GC era, people bought a 360 or a PS3, mostly 360 because of the lack of games on the wii and ps3. wii offers almost nothing so far compared to 360 and people shouldnt wait years for games to come... games that if multiplat are always better on the HDs. the best solution is to buy a 360 or a PC. too many few games released so far, the wii is lagging behind in terms of support and 3 partys reinforce this, I just wish nintendo hadnt take such a bad decision.

Maybe a good business decision but a very bad decision on the path the company is going to follow. the true gaming machines will be the hd consoles this gen while wii will focus on games that require no gameplay skills (like the majority of wii games so far). I always said the wii is a missed opportunity as nintendo should have focused on both hardcore and casuals, not just casuals and their franchise fans. they needed to get more 3 partys games and avoid what happend in the previous 2 gens. but they didnt.

IMO next gen, with the current image they have no core gamer will buy one just maybe nintendo fans if they hadnt lost them by then.

You forgot to type "/sarcasm" at the end dude.
