Forums - Sony - Little Big Planet Will Be Hardware Seller Claims Sony

I really hope so the game looks brilliant. I would hate it to be outsold by the umpteenth iteration of some 20 year old franchise.

If Sony said so, there is no reason to doubt it.

It may or not be a system seller. The mains problems that this game might have is that :
1. You have no idea what this game is about if you didn't heard about it before
2. Even for those that know, there is a confusion as to what is the real goal of the game
3. That game isn't interesting without online
4. The main demographic of the console isn't necessarily in this kind of games.
5. The sackboys are brilliant

If they want the game to be a success, they need to do a lot of marketing. Ads that explain what the game is about could make up for 1,2 and 4.

other than that i agree with the post. If they could show advertisments explaining the concept idea+ just some cool trailers. I think the game would sell really well. With good reviews and stuff the game will also have long legs.

Sackboys could cause alot of sales to children imo

So how many children will go to their parents asking them to buy a $400-$500 console?

Yeah...personally I think this game will appeal mostly to owners who already have a PS3. And then again some people may not know about it (my friends who own a PS3 don't) or just won't care about it because it's "kiddy."

What does a child care of money?

Hopefully they are right.  I've yet to see one of these genre of games end up popular so it'd be nice if this was the one.  The only annoying part will be sitting through a bunch of people thinking it was new.

Like when Carlos Santana won that award had the one hit song, and everyone treated him like he hadn't been playing music forever.

@ Soriku

since LBP will be released near christmas id say alot of kids

this game will be a fad game, don't get me wrong the game looks good but it wont last more then a few months as the "cool" thing to do on the ps3 before it gets replaced with other games and takes a back burner seat

I'm not comparing LBP to Wii Sports or anything but all five of those could easily apply to Wii Sports. ;)

Yes, Mii's without arms and legs is rather creepy.  :P

Huh?

1. If Nintendo advertised anything they advertised this game. Plus it has a name advantage: Wii Sports is pretty self explanitory.

2. The goal of Wii bowling is about as simple as it can get.

3. Wii Sports has online? I've been missing out!

4. I thought all HD fanboys say that Wii Sports players is Wii's only demographic.

5. This is a matter of taste. I really like both design choices.

Eh...my point is the parents would likely say no and it's too expensive, not the child.

True, it won't stop the kids though... and there are plenty of people out there who spoil their kids way too much.

This game won't appeal to the wannabe-hardcores so no it won't be a systemseller

I can't speak for the mainstream, but this is the one game that--if it lives up to expectations--will cause mii to buy a PS3.

MGS4 was close and I'll definitely pick it up if/when i do get a PS3, but it it doesn't make me feel all warm and cuddly inside like LBP does.
