Forums - Nintendo - Should I pick up Baten Kaitos?

I was at a pawn shop yesterday and they had both Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings & Baten Kaitos Origins for 10 dollars each. They got decent reviews, only problem is the card system.

For a rpg like this game does the card system work or is it just annoying?

Only card system game I have ever played Kingdom Hearts: Chains of Memory (which was ok not the greatest gameplay) and most other rpgs I play are the usual turn based or action rpg. Do you think I would enjoy this?

Or should I atleast just pick up one and see if I like it before I pick up the second one?

It pretty much is a turn based RPG, it's just you use different cards to attack and defend.

I think you should go ahead and get one for 10 bucks. It doesn't really matter which you play first also, though I would still advise you to get Eternal Wings first.

For $10 you may as well.

I didn't really like Origins though. The characters were pretty stupid but the battle system is neat.

If you want to complement your Gamecube collection with a pair of rather good 3rd-party games, then yes! You should pick 'em up!

@Soriku
Never though of it like yu gi oh, I was thinking like in some form like kingdom hearts but that was like an action rpg.
Also Soriku wisdom didn't like Origins and was wondering what if you played the first game and that would have made origins a disappointment? Or do you just like the gamethat much

@wisdom of words
Why didn't you like origins? Was there a particular reason?

Get both. They're great.

The characters.  You have three characters and only three characters.  The plot is rather slow (compared to SoA and ToS) and the characters quickly become annoying.  And the main character's voice acting... beyond awful.

You could get $10 worth of enjoyment out of it, but it has quite a few flaws.

I might just stick with Eternal Wings first and maybe get origins if I am that bored

eternal wings is better than origins get eternal wings first

plus i prefer the deck system in eternal wings as opposed to origins
