Forums - Sales - Pachter a big...fraud?

No that I have any hatred regarding the person, I just dont remember any prediction he ever made (that anyone who visits vgchart couldnt made as well) that added up with reality.

Is Pachter the Jack Thompson of analisys? All fame but no game? What's your opinion about it?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

My feeling is the opposite. He bets on everything, and steals the pot every time.

I can't think of anyone making any better predictions, and I would say his predictions over the last year have generally been better than a couple of years ago.  Nothing overly impressive, and nothing outrageous.  Jack Thompson is pretty extreme, I don't see that from Pachter.  I can think of some Sony fanboys on this site that are a better comparison to Jack Thompson.

Patcher is a loser. He is wrong far, far more often than he is right. And most of those times is when he quotes something completely obvious.

He gets attantion because gaming journalists need to write something on a slow news day.

I googled and found this overview of Pachter predictions:
http://russrenshaw.newsvine.com/_news/2007/08/11/891513-how-pachters-predictions-stand-up

All in all he doesn't seem to be to badly of the ball most of the time. Fun part in that article though is reading the prediction on Final Fantasy XIII going multiplatform. Pachter sorta got the reasoning right, but missed the final outcome. FF XIII PS3-exclusive in Japan and multiplatform in the west.

While I think the whole analyst thing is a overblown and silly, singling out Pachter especially seems rather misplaced, his guesswork is at least well reasoned most of the time.

Actually, real investors don't listen to him at all
