Forums - Sales - Is Madden 09 going to move hardware? Who will benefit?

Hey guys,

Madden 09 is about to release soon and I am just wondering, if this is about to move hardware. And if it does, which system will benefit? I think the larger Userbase in the US for the Xbox360 might help here. You see a friend playing this, you want to play it, too.

Or is this a game to buy a PS3 for? But this is probably the worst time to have shortages for sony.

Give me some thoughts.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

YOoo Brett is a Jet now!

Yeah, what are they gonna do about the cover?

Yo can you belive this dude is on the Jets?

No, it will not move hardware. I have played both the PS3 and 360 versions. IMO, the 360 version plays better. The PS3 version is an improvement over last year but still plays slower then the 360 version. No one will benefit as Madden will sell on both consoles. The 360 will win in overall software sales by a 2:1 margin as it always does on multiplats.

I doubt it will move much hardware at this point in time ... I could be wrong but I suspect that people who are big enough Madden fans to spend over $300 to buy a system and Madden probably bought one of these consoles for Madden 2006, Madden 2007 or Madden 2008.

i don't think it will move a lot of hardware but if this game is to move some consoles i think that it will spread its effects on x360: with the price cut casual gamers who are footbal fans could get a x360 with Madden for 250$...that's the best deal on the market.

On the other side i expect this game to perform better (relative to the userbase) on Ps3 rather than on x360 as this is the 1st true madden game for PS3 (last year ps3 version was a rip off)

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):

44.2 M 27.1 M 20.8 M

Quick question, what was the cost of the PS3 and 360 at the time of the last madden release?

There are always people looking towards madden as their reason to upgrade their console, but those people are usually waiting till the price is right. The more each system has dropped in the last year, the more likely more people will be willing to upgrade.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
