Forums - Microsoft - Looks like Tales of Vesperia has had a good debut in Japan...

I love that they always get in huge lines for any big game that comes out. I wonder if there's a person who waits a few hours, walks into the store and picks the game up and laughs at everybody who waited.

The game could always sell out, or a walk-in might not find a X360 to buy...Who knows.

But at any rate, a person couldn't laugh at anyone by walking into the store and buying it after a few hours - those that waited will have already been home playing the game.

I'm expecting Tales of Vesperia to debut at 100k or so on 360. 360 sales should be north of 10k...though I can't really see it higher than 30k this week. Should be interesting.

What if he walked by the line earlier though?  Then he went and got some breakfast, ran a few errands then came back and got the game.  Surely he could perform a hearty laugh then.

So it may beat Blue Dragon's first week?  That would be good news for MS/BN.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

That's interesting, in America our lines are single-filed.

Blue Dragon, with bundles, sold around 86,000 for the entire week (first day was 43k w/o bundles)...I think ToV has a good shot (75%) at doing it.

Hardware sales are another story...The 360 has been selling quite well the past few weeks, and it'd be understandable that some people have already bought 360's for ToV. Like TheSource, I expect above 10,000 h/w units for the week. Most likely in the 15,000-18,000 area.

That's probably a waiting area and not an actual line

Tales of Vesperia will be a great game. I understand why people are waiting in line to get it. I'm more patient than that (and I work during the day) but I understand.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

We should see how well the Japanese gamers receive ToV before we determine whether it is a great game or not.  Famitsu aren't very reliable anymore since they admitted to giving scores based on hype

Remember though, there was a demo on XBLA.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
