Forums - Nintendo - Wii Version of Rock Band 2 Will Be Feature-Complete

About fucking time. If true, and if the GH3/4 instruments work with it, I'll definitely be picking it up now.

If they don't work, well, in that case I'll have to make a decision between RB2 and GH4, and RB will be a hard sale (Freezepop vs. already having a guitar... hmm....)

I'll wait for more information, obviously, but Harmonix definitely just stopped the downward momentum in their reputation in my eyes. We'll see if they're able to start rebuilding it, now.

(the fact that this wasn't announced with RB2 is also strange)

I agree to an extent on how they are slowly rebuilding their rep, but isn't this kinda fast? I mean, the Wii just got Rock Band. RB2 is a little fast. Oh well, it's still nice to see them not gimping the Wii as much. They'd better work on those Graphics though. I doubt that the GH Guitars will be supported. However, I think I remember reading somewhere that RB Guitars will be supported by GH:WT...

Anyway I still don't think I'm getting it.

I agree it's kinda fast, but they're probably using a significant amount of code developed for RB1, since the other versions have been called more of an 'expansion pack' as well.  The development has probably always been for RB2, and they just took the parts RB1 needed and shipped that with the PS2 version just to get some sales.

With regards to the graphics, I can live with less detail, so long as the World Tour feature is there (which is part of what feature-complete means to me).  With RB1, there were people (on this forum even; you know who you are) who were saying the Wii wasn't capable of the customizable characters, which meant no World Tour mode.

I don't believe this limitation for a second, and expect that if they are saying feature complete they mean feature-complete.

Also, GH4 supporting Rock Band instruments does nothing.  I have the investment into GH3:Wii already.  I want to retain that guitar, and add on to it.  I don't want it to be a wasted investment.  If they can't provide that, the sale becomes much harder.

1) WiiFit will outsell the pokemans.
Current Status: 2009.01.10 70k till PKMN Yellow (Passed: Emerald, Crystal, FR/LG)

And the Wii steps up as a true contendor in the music game business, lol.

My point was though I thought it might seem unlikely, since what happened with GH3/RB1, It seems more likely this time since GH:WT might support RB instruments, it's more likely to go the other way around.

too bad Im already sold on World Tour.

But Harmonix said they couldn't possibly do dlc without a hard drive? IT is impossible that they did a half-assed port of the first game! I am so confused!

Starcraft 2 ID: Gnizmo 229

i really doubt the DLC will be that successful on the Wii, but the online play is definitely a bonus

I thought Harmonix or EA said that the Wii is not capable of handling DLC until Nintendo made a solution. oh wait Vicarious Visions and some company making a Kareoke game are already doing it in spite of it not being possible. oh dear I guess theres some egg on their face.

There are people who say the Wii isn't capable of custom characters. heh, maybe they should check out Phantasy Star online for the GC/Dream Cast. That's right suck it. Already doable and done.

Well out of principle of the thing I'm still sticking with GH:WT. GH crew never said it wasn't possible. Heck even on the forums they said they were going to try and get it out before release. Didn't happen, but we at least get to see it in GH:WT.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Better work with GH3/A and WT instruments otherwise, why bother?
