If you are looking at the next 3-5 years, and since diablo3 is being newly developed, I'd like to think it should support the quad core. And for that 3-5 year time frame in the future, all new games really should as well. So if you not going to be playing much older stuff, the quad core may actually benefit you. However right now the dual core is probably the best bet, for you might not even see the benefits of the quad for years to come. I remember when I bought the 64bit amd's in preparation for the 64bit OS's. That was years ago and I have yet to see the benefit (although starting to show some legs recently)
