Forums - Nintendo - A good idea that will Never be(NWC single FC)

Let's get this clear. NWC does it's job. It does what it's suppose to do well. Do I like the limitation of the job, do you like the limitation of it's job. I think most of us will agree no. Many of us would like a little more expansion escpecially with what we feel are basic features. A) Single identity, B) shared game data, C) knowing who is online and  D) in-game messaging. Ok ok in game messaging is a little more than basic.

Heres the problem. The NWC infrastructure isn't built to support cross NWC games communicating. How come? Becuase each partition/group of servers are built that way. FC are completly stored using LOCALIZED data. Which means your own machine tracks your friends FC. This is part of this is legacy issue with the NDS. The idea is not inherently flawed.  Since a centralized FC storage system would put strain on the NWC servers. This means a couple of things. It would require every save game to store each FC of all your friends FC from different game and is ultimatly expandle. It's just the games that limit this to around 60 FC.  Since each game stores the players using localized FC storage and only queries online by sending a request with the FC. This causes the Wii to inherit the NDS legacy of limited storage of a good mechanic. This ultimtly pisses most of us off.

There is however an elegant solution. I call Mii Friend Channel or Mii Channel update X. Whatever you prefer. The Wii already has an internel FC. The Wii has far more storage than a DS. This allows for more FCs. Though I think it's still locked at 60 at this time. Heres the idea with MFC. MFC uses the Wii FC as a communications room. yes you have to  regsiter a FC, but only once. Here is the benefit of the localized data storage of save games. The Wii can examine the save games and extract FC from different NWC games. Now MFC has access to different NWC FC. This means that MFC act's as a centralized FC hub for sharing, checking who is online and chatting with other Wii FC. Future games could also then add a messaging system. So people logged into MFC can message Friends already in games. Though this will still not allow cross game communications. This is an elegant solution to an infrastructure problem. It continues with the idea of localization data rather than centralization. Even when your main Wii FC are filled you will still have access to the manual FC that the game provides.

I also stand by that this does not distrupt the "safety" issue that Nintendo aims for.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
