I already have one. I mainly go by what my customers tell me when they come in my store because they are searching all around the area and can't seem to find one (except on the rare occasion that a store manages to get more then 10 of the 80 gb bundles)

So PS3s really are supply constrained due to Consumer incompetence.

I think the problem is that you are taking these last few weeks of sales as gospel for the rest of the year/generation, when we've yet to see the lasting effects of 360's price drop.

I think the problem is that you are taking these last few weeks of sales as gospel for the rest of the year/generation, when we've yet to see the lasting effects of 360's price drop.

 

 As its never taken the Sony community anymore than a few weeks to draw their own conclusions as to how the rest of the generation would play out I don't see the problem here. I can imagine I'm not the only one thinking this might spell worry as the sheer number of "It will be okay for the PS3, won't it?" threads on this site have skyrocketed as of late.

The "It will be okay for the PS3, won't it?" Threads have skyrocketed since the "PS3 is teh Doomorz" threads have also skyrocketed.  Let's be honest here.

Not relying on PS3 exclusives, but rather the amount of "good" games on the platform are always said to be low, but with some good Exclusive, first party games coming out, that could, and will change some people's minds.

The PS3 doesn't sell as good as it should not because of it's capacities or games but because of a too high price. 300$/€ should be the maximum price for a basic SKU.

Make an 80gb if you want, but bring back the old 20Gb at 300$ and it will sell well.

They won't drop the price, Sony has stated many, many times that they want to be profitable. There is a slight chance the price will drop € 50 in Q4 of this year, SCE was profitable in the same quarter last year even with a € 100 price cut. But don't get your hopes up.

Sony does not "have" to do anything. Keep in mind that they are the biggest of the three companies involved in this console war. As such, they have more decision making ability and cannot simply be "forced" into a price drop. The only way I can see that happening is if sales fall even lower and 360 sales keep going up. I'm not sure if that will happen cause I think PS3 sales should go back to normal with the 80 Gig September.

 

They are not the biggest... They actually are the smallest. Sure their total sales are higher but Microsoft makes much more profit and Nintendo also makes more profit than Sony (the whole Sony).

 

I was talking about which company is worth more money.

I'm a bit ignorant on the subject, but isn't that determined by their shares?  Assuming that's the case, the order is Microsoft >> Nintendo > Sony.  Yeah, Nintendo has gone up quite a bit since the DS / Wii, topping the entire Sony company.
