People who think LO is hard were obviously not born yet during the 16 and 8 bit era.

And how far did you get into Lost Odyssey to compare it to an 8bit or 16bit JRPG?

Also, which JRPG from th 8b or 16b era would you compare the difficulty of LO to?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Interestingly enough, my Girlfriend has had very little problem playing Lost Odyssey.

She made it about halfway through the fourth disk before learning that you can skill link with immortals, and to the 2nd disc before realizing what the Rings did.

O_o is she into strategy? cause thats amazing lol

From the few hours I played in disc 3, I found it too easy. Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne is way harder than LO. That game will kick your ass. I hope Atlus doesn't tone down the difficulty for SMT4.

I started gaming in the 16-bit era but I didn't become hardcore until the PS2 era and I honestly don't find LO to be that hard, just challenging

its not really that difficult i just think that some of the bosses and mobs have really cheep attacks that they souldnt have...if they use there most powerfull attacks all the time the game would be imposible..and i think the AI is built to prevent itself from winning instead of the opposite. (i hope i made sence just now)

uhh...ya. it was one of the hardest games i have ever played, but it was worth beating

Final Fantasy 2?  Unless you broke the leveling up system that game is a pain in the ass.

Seriously though, it's weird comparing 8 and 16 bit RPGs to modern ones.. since they were built to almost force you to grind in a lot of cases.

I second that the first boss took me the longest to beat. I thought after that boss the game was not that difficult.... Though I can't say that completely honestly yet since I have not gone and beat the last boss yet. It has been sitting in my drawer as I have been playing other games. I think lost odyssey is great, but I finally agree they should have spent more time to decrease the load times before enemy encounters.

Problems like framerate issues are common for games not made by Epic Games that use the Unreal Engine so you can't totally put the blame on the game being rushed out

@Riachu- My bad... I didn't know it was stuck under the Unreal Engine syndrome. I guess that explains it. It's a great game, but about 3 quarters through the load times started to bug me a little when I was going back to old places trying to collect items. Though almost everything else blew me away..

I haven't played it but I don't know any JRPG that could be described as hard. Perhaps only SMT:Nocturne but that was more cheap than hard (Mahamaon and Mamudoons lol)

LO is not that hard. You just need the proper strategies to beat the enemies in the game

Does proper strategy mean looking on gamefaqs for a way to beat the boss because it's almos impossible to figure it out on your own.

Does anyone know if this game is harder/easier than FFIV? I think FFIV is really hard so I don't think I would grab an harder game.

FFIV DS which is on the same difficulty as the Japanese version of the original is much harder. The original U.S version not so much.

I'm playing the DS version...

Definately easier than the DS version of FF IV (Which by the way is my fav. FF game and the DS version has only made it better.) The bosses are not as "Cheap" in LO as they are in FF IV, esp. the one in FF IV about 1/3rd through the game you will know what I mean when you get there. (If you call it cheap for needing a stratagy to beeting bosses, I think figuring out the stratagy to a boss makes it more rewarding when you are able to beat them.)
