Forums - Gaming - Where is the jump button?

Remember the great moment of collective video-gamer shock that was "Link auto jumps in Ocarina of Time !?"

That was quite a shock.

lol, yeah. I was thinking of posting this actually. So, I guess I wasn't the only one literally ''searching'' for the jump button the first time I played the game?

I actually thought changing into an adult would have relieved the situation... I guess I was wrong! XD

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I was going to bring up Zelda too. I hate the fact that there's no jump button. It annoys the hell out of me and makes the games more difficult (and less fun) to play. I'm all for jump buttons.

Add me on Xbox Live: TopCat8

Yeah the auto jump didn't stop him from falling on his green covered ass half the time. He still could jump though, it's not the button but the fact your character can actually jump and explore the whole word whitout staying stuck everytime there is a rock bigger than a fly crap on the road.

Persons without argument hide behind their opinion

Sometimes I do miss a jump button, but to be honest, in Crisis Core a jump button would be good for some aerial combos

Now thinking about it, a lot of people I show games to or that are younger and less game experienced then me ask about jumping.

MSG4 for example, my housemate asked if I could jump up when I went to a wall that was too high for the triangle action button. He said that was a bit stupid as the ledge was only just higher then Snakes head. Kinda is but then like i said to him, not all games need a jump.

Hmm, pie.

Yea, I am a bit testy tonight lol.

I get some games might be improved if they actually had a jump button(Heavenly Sword was great even without one but if it did it could potentially add depth). Yet some people always want a game to be able to just pick up and go. No real depth of interface whats so ever. They want the "2 button" game where it is always jump and shoot lol. This bothers me. Mainly because I think catering to the casual gaming/shovel ware market is detrimental to the gaming industry as a whole. While some games will be better suited this way (Mario Bros) others just dont (FFX).

People need to wake up and smell the coffee, there is more to gaming than a jump button.....

You can't be serious. That's what your actually complaining about. It's not about the "Jump Button" at all. It's about how your not being coddled anymore and the shift for more of a broad audiance.

You need to wake up and smell the coffee, there is more to gaming than what you want.....  yeesh the only thing I hear is that you don't want them in your turf or spending money on gameing. Like spending money is a bad thing.

Anyways yes, some games are better with it. Some are not. Some don't need the idea of it, but as it's been mentioned before. Older gamers are use to the S/NES days where Jump Button was a major part of the game. Either way relax

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

i blame wii fit. :(

lol i remember playing zeld: link to the past (my first ever game btw) and i always thought "damn if only there was a jump button!!!!" i hated the hook thingy cuz id fail with it and fall off the edges

but i later develop the less need of a jump button infact only certain games use the jump button wisely...why i dont know...

Worse part is, when jump is included but jumping on baddies head makes you take damage.

i feel your pain, i have had some stupid people ask me questions like that.

Anyway is it just more or does a game just sem kinda of strange when you feet are stuck to the ground
