Yea, I am a bit testy tonight lol.

I get some games might be improved if they actually had a jump button(Heavenly Sword was great even without one but if it did it could potentially add depth). Yet some people always want a game to be able to just pick up and go. No real depth of interface whats so ever. They want the "2 button" game where it is always jump and shoot lol. This bothers me. Mainly because I think catering to the casual gaming/shovel ware market is detrimental to the gaming industry as a whole. While some games will be better suited this way (Mario Bros) others just dont (FFX).

 

People need to wake up and smell the coffee, there is more to gaming than a jump button.....

I always liked jumping, except for stuff like RPG and sports games, i mean the jump is one of the best evasion moves ever in the old side scrollers and the 3d platformers, it always added a better playing dynamic to me.

Christ how long have you been playing video game? 2, 3, 4 years max? A game, other than a f*cking RPG or 10 years old shooter, need a damn jump button. Game without one are made by retarded developer who can't build an environment able to handle that variable.

You cant be serious are you? There are plenty of games that just simply do not require a jump button and the addition of it might just make the game gimmicky. FFX-2 added a farely useless jump button that just is annoying at times. Patapon as said before needs no jump button. Pokemon needs no jump button. MGS4 didnt need a jump button.

What I am getting at is not that no game should have a jump button, simply that all do not need it. I am annoyed to no end by those who do not give games a real chance for the simple fact that it has no jump button (or shoot). There are more genres out there than simple shooters and platformers. And I dont classify a reactin command as a jump button. I mean a specifically mapped button that has no purpose other than to hurdle like some cracked out retard.

 

And I have been playing video games for about 13 yrs (im 19) but I have done my share of backtracking as well.

Actually I am dead serious, and I say except RPG(they still need a run button though!!) and it obviously don't apply to strategy game. I don't know what Patapon is but MGS4 should have one. MGS4 didn't need 30 minute cut scene either but that made the game more interesting and so would a damn jump button! Developper should learn to build their environment well enough so you can explore to whole of it whitout falling between the crack.

I hate games where you can't jump and there are tiny (2-foot) obstacles that you can't get over. Also games that use 2-foot drops as obstacles. If I could navigate an obstacle, it's idiotic that my heroic godlike warrior can't climb over it.
