Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Iwata: We Won't Compete Online

Really? The Wii online i've seen runs as well if not better then the 360 online i've seen at the same place.

I've got lag sometimes playing 360 online, yet have yet to have lag on the Wii.

When it comes to actual online service the only thing the Wii is worse on is the friends code from my expierence.

To this day, I still get slowdown issues with online SSBB with 1v1s with guys 1 state away.

Meanwhile, I play 32 person TF2 games all the time with absolutely no latency issues.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

TF2=dedicated server with someone paying $25-$45 per month

SSBB=peer to peer with Nintendo only doing matchmaking

Someone should make a list of games that use dedicated servers.  IIRC, newer EA titles and Warhawk use them.

hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I would expect better from people in this thread trying to find criticism in Nintendo's words, especially a mod like SSJ12.

Nintendo is saying they don't want to bother with online features extraneous to gaming such as Pay Per View Movies, Teevo or other Television services, Radio, etc.

Nintendo of course is going to continue pushing the various aspects of online gaming, however they're not going to bother with extranious media novelties that don't directly benefit gaming.

It's not that hard to figure out what they're saying people.

summed up - cant succeed, wont try

:'(

I think this is actually the fourth thread that's been made from a snippet of the same Wall Street Journal Interview.

Wii Running out of Steam

Wii Motion to be Cheap

Wii 2 in Production (That's more about Fishy pointing out how misleading a proxy article is.)

And now this one. Anyone got a .gif to commemorate this occasion? =P

How many (misleading) threads and interpretations can spawn from one interview?

This is very sad that Nintendo do not want to lift their game and improve online gaming.

This thread is not about online gaming. It is about extra features online like Movies being downloaded. If you bothered to read the OP or ANY of the posts in this thread you would have been able to stealth troll much better.

Wii online gaming service is very poor compared to both the other two consoles. Sorry I did not read the article and I just posted a general comment regarding Nintendo online gaming.

C'mon!!!!! I own all 3 consoles and the Wii cannot even be compared with the 360 or PS3 talking about online.

Be real, nintendo's online SUCKS!!!!

@javierdacosta: I would agree with you that nintendo's online sucks, but I'm too busy getting addicted to playing MK:Wii's online so I can't. And hey, it's for free, that also counts as a feature for me.
