Forums - Microsoft - Honest question. If you had more than 1 RROD, why did you tolerate it?

I've had my 360 since 06 and it still hasn't red ringed. Whereas our wii has died 3 times. The reality is electronics break, get it fixed and move on.

Around the Network

because I wanted to play the 360s game library.

I agree with TC, Im just completely astounded as to how M$ have got away with it. Its the most defective consumer product I have ever heard of.

In alot of countries it is illegal to sell a product that has a defect rate over a certain percent, something like 2% to 3 % and at most 5%. But some how they have avoided this, not a single country has made them do a recall. I guess it was just the over all M$ Juggernaut with billion is cash for law suits that stopped it.

Next is how well they conned the consumers. People start with the "öh but they will fix it"etc etc, but that is far from the point. If you are paying money for a expensive item like a gaming console, it should not be so prone to breaking, that you expect it to happen.

The rrod at one point was as high as 37%, that is just ridiculous, out of ever 100 customers, 37 had their's break. What other consumer electronics could get away with this? It should be like 1 in 10000 people that may have a problems with a product.

What I hate the most is they have never come out and admitted the problems, said what they gonna about, they have said jack shit.

MS haven't got away with it. They offered to fix every RROD console for free if it happens within 3 years of purchase, and they set aside a billion dollars to pay for it. How is that getting away with it? They weren't forced to do it by a court, as Sony were with the PS2 DRE issues that they still denied were a problem even after losing a class action lawsuit. People have short memories when it comes to these things.

Where are the figures from MS that show the RROD rate was as high as 37%? Oh yeah - they don't exist.

The only did this because their lawyers would have told them that is the cheapest way to get out of law suits. Or maybe a behind closed door deal they came to with regulators.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

i just buy multiplat games on the PS3 and exclusives only on the 360. less time its used the longer it will last right?

Whatever the reason, they haven't got away with it have they? It's cost them a billion dollars and damaged the brand image.

lol@behind closed doors deal. In every country that sells the 360?? Sure! The difference between MS and Sony is, even if lawyers advised them what to do, they did it and it was to their credit. Sony did sod all about the PS2 until the lawsuit, and even then they agreed to pay compensation but wouldn't admit any guilt at all.
