Forums - Sales - Seems to bee no games for Wii at 08,Ps3/Xbox 360 can beat it?

Wii has Animal Crossing this fall plus the superior versions of COD and Quantum of Solace and maybe even Star Wars Force Unleashed. PS3 and 360 can't touch it

Around the Network

I don't think anyone can really argue that this generation shift has been far harder on developers than most previous generations. The following things have had an impact that is still being felt in various forms throughout the industry:

  1. The Nintendo DS being the unexpected leading console
  2. The PSP's awful software sales.
  3. The Wii being the unexpected leading console
  4. The PS3 and XBox 360s (amazingly) high development costs
  5. The PS2's continued viability

In the handheld segment the industry has (mostly) adjusted, but the PS2 is still seeing support which in previous generations would be producing "Current Generation" games, the large development costs associated with HD games means that fewer games can be developed at a given time and they take far longer to complete (which results in fewer games being released), and it has taken a long time for developers to start shifting resources to the Wii (and at the moment most projects have been lower budget with smaller development cycles to "Get Something Out" rather than produce amazing games).

Wii does not need games to sell. It sells to all the young kids with the games already available and they do not care about quality. The Wii is like the new Yo-Yo.

Yo-Yos rocked hard.

There's a lot of ignorance in this thread...

Wii Music
Animal Crossing: City Folk

are likely to sell much better than the Sony games (Little Big Planet, Resistance 2). On xbox360, there's only GoW2 that can sell better. Having a few Nintendo fans disappointed by the offering won't reverse the current trend.

sales < quality.

if that the case nintendogs is one of the best games EVER!!! which is not true.

He didnt say anything about quality. He said sales. The entire thread is about whether or not the Wii will be outsold by the 360 or PS3, and the answer is no. With "casual" powerhouses like AC and Wii Music, the Wii will probably be sold out throughout the holidays.

And the Wii has a lot of quality titles coming out this winter that I am looking forward to, but they are not the general hardcore titles the PS3 or 360 is getting. But there are some very interesting titles like de Blob and Deadly Creatures.

That's why I started my previous post talking about ignorance...

You may say whatever you want J021 about Nintendogs but it's one of the best game ever to be done for the girls demographics (along with The Sims).

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Ha! Yeah, that would be catastrophic for the Wii if all the upcoming '08 releases got the poor reception that Nintendogs got.

A side story ...

I used to work with a guy who married a woman from Columbia and the summer after he got married they were going down to Columbia to visit her family; a large portion of the reson for this was that it is difficult (for Columbians) to travel to western countries because of the massive drug trade.

With the wedding and the travel costs they could not really afford much in the way of gifts but still wanted to get a little something for everyone (in particular all of the children). One of the things they decided to do was buy a box of Yo-Yos so that they would have plenty to give all of the children ...

When they got there and gave out the Yo-Yos to the children he soon got the reputation for being their "Rich Uncle" because for years (and years) most of the children desperately wanted Yo-Yos but their families could simply not afford such a luxurious toy.

Hmm.PSP software is Low because of piracy. At least 3 of 9 my friends who has PSP uses piracy.
Ds games that i could buy would be Castlevania,Kirby and Disgaea,if I still would have Ds lite.

So Wii can beat PS3/xbox360 without great games coming to it?Hmm.That could be true, with low price and good games that came last year and that happy Nintendo logo, they will bring it to home,.
However there is some big tittles coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 but there is also meny games that arent so big coming to them.
But Wii wont go to hardcore gamers home.

What is the deal with Wii Music? What is the point of the game? Is there scoring?

I think the point your missing is that games can be more than just intense action. What is the point of a game. Enjoyment, fun, experience. WiiMusic is designed to be a relaxing enjoyment experience. Not a score counter intense rock on game. There is a market because people like to relax. So yes there is a point, it has a job and will do it well. Will you like it, no. Will I choose WiiMusic over GH, no. Can I have WiiMusic to enjoy with my 3 & and 9 year old kids yes. Because it's more about he relaxing experience.

For others. Why is there the view that if it's not from NINTENDO that the Wii has no games? Does this view exist for the other consoles, I bet it doesn't. For example people look forward to Assasins Creed and is important to peoples lists. FF13/V important. It's a lame argument for fanboys. Let it go.

The Wii wil maintain or grow because it's not fanboy or people who actually know how to look at games past 1st party.

I wasn't dissing the game, I just was wondering if there was more to it.

Now, when you say hardcore, do you mean "gamers that love to play or try games of all systems and genres, whether from Sony or from Nintendo, from FPSes to Platformers to niche without any prejudice of any kind," or do you mean "egotistical, narrow-minded, self-proclaimed core gamers that love only two genres: FPSes and games with popular names"?

I'm guessing you mean the latter. In that case, you may end up being right. But I would have to say that it is their loss. If it is the former, on the other hand, then I have to ask why not? With games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and its "close as possible" life-like lightsaber controls, to pure-fun games like de Blob and The Little King Story, to addicting popular games like Animal Crossing....what do you got to lose.

I'll be damned if I was to say that I wasn't interested in all of the games in each system. And that is what is all about: variety.

That is a sad story (that turned out ok). No child should be denied a yo-yo.
