Thanks for the input guys.
I'm fluent in Japanese and I own a Japanese PS2 and NTSC-J PS1/2 games so I actually prefer a Japanese PS3. Fortunately PS3 games can be played on all PS3s so thats not a problem.

But blu-ray movies have region lock? So I wouldnt be able to buy/rent movies in Canada for a jap PS3...hmm oh well

Japan and US/Canada are both in Region A, so there is no problem there either.

You should definitely get NGS.  I've been playing it for the last couple of weeks.  Freakin' Awesome game.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Don't forget that you won't be able to watch movies purchased in Canada due to region-locking...

I don't think this is an issue with BDs just DVDs, I think they took coding out of the BDs, or at least expanded the reigions... not 100% sure

@Alacrist, cool breakdown list, where did you find it?

@vizunary, I think they just expanded the regions, actually here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Blu-ray_regions_with_key.png

As you can see, Japan and the US are now in the same region, and there's only 3.

I thought the 20gb model was also lacking some HD funtionality, so that in the future, you might no be able to watch movies at full 1080p or something like that.

Yeah, I agree, got for the 60gb model.

Well this situation is only one in which it's good that PS3 games are region free. Seriously I wish all consoles were honestly, some games will come really late here or never come and I want to be able to import them.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
