Why are some of you comparing the gameplay? Some of you probably played the beta for Killzone 2 but the full game doesn't come until February.

killzone 2 looks way better, gears looks alright but it has that fake look about it in comparison to killzone 2

Both are great,
but Gears 2 looks better and more polish than Killzone 2 in texture,
Killzone 2 seems better in polygon,special effect like lightning,gun fire.
Conclusion,Killzone 2 got the upper hand here for me,i mean in graphics,but not much.

The only thing that has been proven by these games is that there is no serious power differential between the two consoles.

Gears 2 for the one or two up close objects that are drawn with great detail to wow you, but KZ2 for everything else as Gears 2 fades/blurs everything else to save the hardware, assuming you won't care that in the distance things are blurry.

KZ2 for physics, particles, lighting, destructibility of whole buildings.

Both games look great and I will buy both Gears of War 2 and Kill Zone 2.

I do remember a dev comment from a couple years ago to the effect that both consoles would put out images that were roughly equivalent in detail, but that PS3 would end up being able to have more balls in the air at once, so to speak -- meaning moving objects where the processor has to figure out the physics.  Seems pretty true to me, honestly.  And I'm not even claiming it's dispositive in teh console wars.

Without going through 20 pages of posts, I wonder how many people were banned because of comments in this thread :D

Anyway, I'm not going to say one or the other, both look great, but one is a finished game and another is still in development, and there is every possibility that guerilla make a great monster or F things up entirely by the time 2009 rolls around.

Gears 2 is very very very pretty though.
