A nice list, though I never understood why anyone likes Zeta Gundam. That show frustrated the hell out of me. The plot was convoluted as hell, and for some reason a new mobile suit was developed and mass produced every freaking episode. In the course of One Year somehow the Federation had developed 35 freaking mobile suits and mass produced them. It didn't make the slightest sense and was completely unrealistic. It continually randomly introduced new enemies that no one cared about at all (Haman Khan anyone??) and random enemy pilots who would die these dramatic deaths, even though they didn't matter. It had none of the desperate struggles for survival that I loved in the original Gundam, just half-assed short battles, each never lasting more than one episode. It had ZERO character development, other than Kamille, but every time you thought he finally matured he randomly relapsed into his childish form and you had to hate him all over again.  Seriously he was an asshole for most of the anime until the last episode, and then he gets his freaking mind whiped!?

As far as Gundam goes, I really loved:

Victory Gundam
Turn A Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam
08th MS Team
Char's Counter Attack

Ones that were decent:

Gundam Wing
Mobile Fighter G Gundam (never understood the hate this gets... it's odd, but still a good Gundam series, and it had all the dark plotlines and under the surface love stories that made Gundam great)
Gundam 0080
Gundam 0083
Endless Waltz (better than the actual series lol)
Gundam Seed was okay, Destiny was retarded (For god sakes they changed the main character depending on if Kira was in the battle or not... so stupid)

Ones that were bad:

Gundam X was good... until it got canceled 10 episodes before the end of the series and they had to add a half-assed end
Zeta was bad for the reasons above
Double Zeta was bad for ever reason Zeta was, and then they pulled out Zeta's only redeaming qualities (worst Gundam series EVER, and the only thing it did right as show Kamille healed at the end from Zeta Gundam)
Gundam Seed Destiny was bad
G-Saviour (god I don't know why I watched this, but I wanted to kill myself after I did)

Anyway that's my view of the Gundam series.

Other anime that really need mention:

-Ruroni Kenshin has not been said nearly enough!!! It's a great series, and Samurai X (it's prequel), is the best OVA ever.

-Eyeshield 21 is good, as is Prince of Tennis (the only 2 sports animes I have been able to get into)

-RahXephon is a great and hugely underrated mecha anime

-Cowboy Bebop is still one of the greatest of all time (what do people have against mainstream anime?), it's 2 sort-of imitators are good too: Outlaw Star and Trigun

-Elfen Lied is good ssj12, good choice

-More people still need to watch One Piece. It's so underrated in America, mostly due to a ridiculously bad dub.

-FMA still needs more love (seriously, was there anything to not love about this anime!?)

-JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

-Detective Conan is a fun anime. It's pretty far offtrack from the standard anime formula, but it's enjoyable to watch.

-It really needs to be reinforced that everything Hayao Miyazaki does is brilliant.

I said sort-of imitator. I know it's not a complete rip-off, but in many ways it mimicked the style. Yes, I agree that it's probably a good idea to consider Detective Conan not mainstream, though that really depends on whether you are talking about mainstream in America or Japan. If you are talking about Mainstream in Japan then most of your selections are mainstream. If you are talking about mainstream in America... well then really things like One Piece no longer are. Yes, it's on a cartoon channel, but the version of One Piece they play bears little resemblance to the original creation. Also, I added more to my Zeta Gundam rant lol.

I have also started watching Mobile Suit Gundam Seed... I love this anime

Seed is decent, but do yourself a favor and skip Seed Destiny.  You will hate the execution and it will ruin the halfway decent end of Gundam Seed.  Destiny has one of the worst endings in anime history... I mean really the whole anime just felt completely pointless.

I’ve watched quite a lot of anime, but to me nothing comes close to topping Eureka Seven for me. It literally had everything I wanted it to have and more. It defiantly had the most beautiful love story I’ve seen in an anime.

 

Honourable mentions would go to Haruhi Suzumiya, Code Geass, Monster, AIR and Noein.
