Here is some Youtube footage of the Japanese game.
Looks very nice.
^ If you look at the U.S release dates of other fatal frames you will see that they were all released within 4 months of the Japanese versions. I expect this one to be no different.
^ i hope so,
but i wish it was released here now, cause its summer and i have to go college soon
and i wont have much time to play it lol
No IR tracking does sound stupid. If res evil did it 2 yrs ago why not now
maybe it was a port from an initial PS2 build or something.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
That's weird, i was certain this game would use IR controls, it just made sense.
Maybe the game was too easy that way??
I know resident evil use to have crap controls on purpose, maybe they were going for the same thing.

"...However, in terms of capitalizing on the strengths of Nintendo's controller, we have to cite this game as one of the biggest missed opportunities in recent times, because it completely ignores the fact that the Wii remote has an IR pointer. Why, we have no idea, because as Ruka points her flashlight around darkened environments and focuses her camera on ghosts, we can't help but wonder -- time and time again -- why we can't control both quicker and more precisely using the Wii remote. Instead, the flashlight automatically shines wherever Ruka is looking (with the analog stick) and you control the camera obscura -- get this -- using a combination of the analog stick for left and right movement and Wii remote waggle for up / down movement. That waggle stuff also extends into standard game camera control. While Ruka can look around with the analog stick, all up / down movement is mapped to pulling back or pushing forward with the Wii remote -- which, by the way, feels retarded, not to mention slow..."
What the hell? And Nintendo was party to this? Boo, BOO!!
I was really looking forward to exploring/looking around using the Wiimote IR :P

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:
Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099
The game sounds great, the atmosphere is revered and the story amazing from what these guys tell.
To me, the controls are a minor issieu. Sure, IR would be nice but controls only have to take some getting used to. I don't play a FF game for anything other then atmosphere/story so...

But remember that Tecmo released the first 3, while Nintendo is releasing this and they have now showed us that core games aren't a priority.
