Forums - Nintendo - Top 5 Ways Nintendo Can Win Back Core Gamers

Say hi too Metroid prime 3, Mario galaxy, Zelda TP, SSBB, No More Heroes, Zack and Wiki and my god allot more core games. Wtf they don’t need too win me back. Being a Wii owner and not seeing these games is stupid, more core games will come but they take time. After all we want good games!

I think people are expecting way too much. I'm very satisfied with what Nintendo has released so far. It's been on the market for 1.5 years and we already have a large chunk of Nintendo's core games.

Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Paper Mario, Metroid Prime.

Going on those 6 alone, that's a new core game every 3rd month the Wii has been out. Now throw in Resident Evil 4, Okami, Zack & Wiki and No More Heroes. Plus there are some casual games that are fun, like Wii Sports, Guitar Hero and Boom Blox.

Well, each company is taking different tacts.

It has been shown that the release of core first-party franchises for the Wii is roughly equal to the release of core first-party franchises on the Gamecube. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=36090&start=0

And there is also a chart floating around showing that Nintendo made $1B while Sony and Microsoft lost money.

Basically, the core games may seem a bit easy at first, but increase in challenge. They hook in players and make them gamers. Unfortunately, some people think the opening level is the max difficulty.

Also, not every big game being released for the Wii is an FPS. I know it is not that way on the other systems -- it just seems that way from the hype.

So if you like a type of game that is played on another system, that should be your system of choice.

Would I like to see some more games out for the Wii -- yes. Do I think Nintendo has abandoned people -- no. That would be like saying since Microsoft and Sony are touting movies and entertainment that they are abanoning gamers. And no one seems to be saying that.

And the comments on this thread pretty much echo the comments on the original blog -- if anyone went back to read the source material.

PS -- If you check the age of most Nintendo complainers, they are in college. If you check the age of most Nintendo supporters, they are in the real world. Coincidence? I think not.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

VC needs online multiplayer.

And they should release a "Classic Console" that plays Virtual Console titles with 2 gigs of space and has two wireless classic controllers.. for $50 and ships with Super Mario All-Stars.

Don't bother posting anything that goes against the Wii on this site. It is full of Nintendo fanboys. I have supported Nintendo since before most of these guys were born and I think that Nintendo has abandoned core gamers for good. Sorry to burst the bubble of all the Nintendo fanboys, but none of the games released on the Wii or coming to the Wii are core games. The fact is that Nintendo was on the way out of the home console market and had to resort to 100% casual in order to make money again. I think that it's ridiculous that nobody can say anything against the Wii, whether it is true or not, on this site without getting bombarded by the Nintendo fanboys...

Are you tired of the mini game fest Nintendo is giving us? Scared to criticize Nintendo because they may push harder to the left of gaming instead of going right. Well don’t be alarmed you are amongst many of core gamers who feel the exact same way you do.

Its not that I don’t like Wii Play or Wii Sports but that’s not gaming to me.  Gaming is an experience not just a pass time. Games like Zelda Twilight Princess was outstanding and Mario Galaxy was decent but did fulfill my gaming needs. Then Nintendo hit me with game after miserable game and killed any hope I had left with the release of Wii Fit. Huh!  That’s not a game at all.  Has Nintendo forsaken us and if so how can they win us back?

What does Nintendo need to do to win us back?

  1. Nintendo needs a gamer controller. Lets face it the Wii-mote is not a gaming controller, it’s trendy, it’s hokey and maybe fun but it is not a game controller. Nintendo should keep the Wii-mote for the casual gamers and build another controller just for us. I like the Game Cube controller but it should only be the alternative controller.
  2. Redesign the Nintendo Wii along with the new controller. The Nintendo Wii needs a new design and color for the core gamer. Black is bad ass but it’s severely over done.  I would make it RED.  Red is a serious color you know.
  3. Drop the “Wii like to Play” gimmic.  That campaign where families are all playing together is nice but us core gamers don’t care that.  I don’t care about senior citizens playing in the retirement home or the lovable couple playing on the couch.  The new campaign should be with adults from 25 to 42 playing games and loving it.
  4. Games! Games! Games!  Even Miyamoto is tired of the casual games and would like start developing for the traditional gamers.  Sony and Microsoft compete for games and so should Nintendo. Having to rely on 1st party developers is what got Nintendo in trouble with the Game Cube, they cannot repeat the same mistake.  So Nintendo go after the  “Bioshock” and the “Final Fantasy’s” it will only help your product.
  5. The virtual console is nice but classics are on every console. Nintendo should give us new games on the virtual console. I would love to play “Super Mario Legend of the Seven Stars” but giving me a game like “Carcassonne” or “Texas Hold’em” gives Nintendo an edge.

These are my suggestion for Nintendo. Whether they take these suggestions or not is beyond me but something needs to be done because I am feeling like the Nintendo Wii is not for me.

ok wii doesnt need a redesign and a new controller

Aren't these some of the same arguments from year 1 of the wii.
