@skee, It's true noobs can get lucky from time to time. Soul Calibur is a game of momentum. If a noob lands some combos and gets some momentum the game can easily be theres. But in a best of three it's highly unlikely for that to happen more than once. The depth this game offers is immense. After some intensive playing the button mashing technique becomes pretty worthless to opponents.

 

@everyone, I've put in a good 400+ hours into Soul Calibur 2 and 3 (xbox, gamecube, and PS2). The game is solid from top to bottom. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a soulless noob.

I probably would have put it more eloquently, but it's safe to say that Soul Calibur, as a series, is second in complexity only to Virtua Fighter--if you're getting beat down by beginners slapping the X and O (or A and B) buttons like a pre-teen having a Pixie Sticks and Jolt Cola-induced seizure you, frankly, suck.
