Forums - Gaming - Why is the Soul Calibur IV online community so bad at the game?

...at least on ps3.

I'm generally quite used to getting owned online in fighting games thanks to Tekken 5: DR but I've yet to lose a soul calibur 4 match online. Most people generally just seem to be fighting randomly even when there's no lag. Anyone else notice this?

I didn't but I can tell you that Soulcalibur has a high learning curve. It's easy to be decent by mashing buttons but when you try to really use the moves, it gets much harder so you may end up beaten by someone mashing buttons. So, if you're really good, you shouldn't have trouble beating people online.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Isn't this game new?

Pixel Art can be fun.

I can't wait to take asteroth for a spin and have some damn good ring-out fun :D

It's new but it isn't the first in the series. I assume most people buying 4 have played one or more of the previous iterations

Actually, I think SC is one of the easier fighters. Its the easiest one I know of. I can't think of any other fighter where you can win by just tapping square and triangle.

I actually almost got bested by a noob who was doing just that because he was way faster than me and I rarely block in SC. It was pretty hard to GI as well due to the slight lag but it seems like the easiest way to victory is full unending assault and thats my specialty. I find it hard to defend against people I haven't figured out.

I got the game for PS3, but the last time I played Soul Caliber was 2 on NGC, so I suck pretty bad.

Which is your best character?

BTW: wow, is this game beautiful.

I can't speak for the PSN players, but the Live players are up to par. I've been playing Soul Calibur for years (I'm not exceptional, but definitely can beat any button mashers) and I'm only doing so-so in my ranked matches. Yesterday i was fighting an Afro Samurai version of Mitsurugi and I broke all of his armor till he was only in underwear, but still the guy I was playing against was good enough to come back and end up beating me.

More or less. I just started on Soulcal and so far I have 5 wins 2 loss. There are a lot of newbs like me, for sure, but they have no idea how to get good combos. Just mash buttons.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Mitsurugi.

It sucks that they seem to have made him slower this time around and they also took away his three-hit horizontal unblockable attack. He still owns though.
