Forums - Gaming - Should I buy a PSP or a DS tommorrow?

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222049. See if you like those games. I will also like to mention that the DS has way better 3rd party support in the future than the PSP, while the PSP started out with better support than the DS. Also if you like Rpgs then the ds is a nobrainer. Don't listen to the people who say the ds is for the KIDZ and Casualz.

I have a few more questions, which one is cheaper? does the psp have mic support? Which online community is better? does the DS have any none casual online games(because I dont play them)?

The DS is cheaper.  I'm not sure about the PSP having mic support or not.  I think the DS has a better online community, but don't hold that against me.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

The DS is $130, the PSP is $170 for the stand alone and $200 for the bundle. You can buy a mic for the PSP. As far as I know, the DS online is a bit gimped like the Wii, whereas the PSP's is a wide open system like the 360 or PS3.

Here's other threads with decent info, although they're mostly fanboy banter:

Actually the DS' online is much better than the Wii's.  The only things they really have similar to eachother is friend codes. Everything else is better in the DS' favor. There are also many times more DS online titles than Wii online titles, and I think there may even be comparable in numbers to the 360 or ps3. Almost every game implements online in some form. The DS also has voice chat.

Usually, I am not interested into handheld games, but now I am considering one. I am underway on the USS Bataan, and I arrive in Norfolk VA tommorrow at noon. Ever since I was on this ship, I was bored as hell. I have been working twelve hour days and I have been out to see for 2 weeks straight without a cell phone or anything. I want something to do because I will be underway again for another while next week. I am interested in the PSP a little more because I hear that it will be gettin a friends list and more online support. Also, I have a PS3, so I can remote play. DS on the other hand has that nice dual screen, but the hardrive isnt that big. Also, the PSP has music, photos, and internet. The DS has pokemon, which is a plus, someone please persuade me which handheld is the best. Give me details on both and great games please and I will be back in 20mins because I have a haircut appointment

you are misinformed
