Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 Sales Charts, June 24th Sales Discussion

I'll post J and E data later on, but lets start with North America:

TW Pos. LW Pos.Name Wk Sales Total Sales Drop  Weeks in Release
 #1 --- DiRt 69,715 69,715 N/A 1
 #2 #1 Tenchu Z 42,013 118,262 -44.9% 2
 #3 #2 Forza Motorsports 2 37,530 380,195 -24.6% 4
 #4 #3 Guitar Hero 2 32,696 845,732 +12.8% 12
 #5 #4 Shadowrun 19,350 177,980 -25.5% 4
 #6#10  Rainbow Six: Vegas 14,465 987,241 +6.6% 31
 #7 #9 Fight Night Rnd 3 14,337 994,435 -1.4% 70
 #8 #5 POTC3: AWE 13,809 107,910 -24.2% 5
 #9 #8 Command & Conquer 3 13,506 209,493 -7.9% 7
 #10 #11 Gears of War 12,421 2,771,858 -5.4% 33

A few quick notes; This is one of the X360's best weeks in recent memory, as far as holdovers go. Only 1 game in the top 10 had a decent drop, and it was still rather good overall (Tenchu Z).

#1 Dirt did well, and should see sales of around 250k before it's over. Expect it to drop to around 35k next week.

#2 Tenchu Z had a great hold, and has done fairly decent thus far. We should expect similar sales of this game to Dirt, and get ~250k in the US. European Sales, however, have been pretty good, and could see 500k globally.

#3 Forza had a great hold overall. 25% shows that F2 is going to have some legs, and we should see this game hit 750k before it's dead, or even more.

#4 Guitar Hero continues to just outright do awesome. 1.5m or more could easily be attained. Expect this game to be the first 1m seller of the year.

#5 Shadowrun is doing insanely well, and should hit 300k before it's lifespan is gone. It should get good drops from here on out.

FNR3 and RSV did great yet again, and will both hit 1m next week (give or take).

#8 POTC3 had a large drop, but still hit 100k. 140~150k should be it's final cume.

#9 C&C3 has had another good drop, and 300k should be easily attained.

#10 Gears did great yet again, and 3m is easily attainable, and could get far more provided a decent price drop + major sales from Sept. to Dec.

Outside of the top 10: Juarez "hits" 75k. 100k is about where it'll die at. Oblivion hit 1,150,000 units in the US, and continues with slow drops. Nothing major outside of this. DR to hit 750k in 2 weeks, and Crackdown to hit 800k in 2 weeks.

TW Pos. LW Pos.   NameWk Sales Total Sales Drop   Weeks in Release
 #1 -- Saints Row 9,245 9,245 N/A 1
 #2 #1 Trusty Bell: Chopins Dream 7,118 54,578 -85.1% 2
 #3 #2 Dead Rising 2,303 73,426 -58.5% 39
 #4 -- Def Jam Icon 1,381 1,381 N/A 1
 #5 #3 Forz Motorsports 2 1,156 22,686 -23.1% 5
 #6 #4 Blue Dragon 909 191,429 -29.7% 29
 #7 #5 Bullet Witch 737 14,984 -36.8% 48
 #8 #6 Tenchu Z 606 14,368 -46.6% 38
 #9 #7 Ghost Recon: AW 522 11,735 -44.6% 52
 #10 #11 Viva Pinata 507 15,245 -13.7% 24

Although I expect the numbers to be edited a bit after MC data is available, here are a few notes:

#1 Saints Row debuted a little lower than expected, I figured it'd get around RSV numbers, and premier with around 12k. Expect SR to hit maybe 17.5k, unless numbers change.

#2 TB ended up having a horrendous drop. 85% just insane. However, it should regulate itself for the next few weeks, and has probably seen the worst of it's drops. If it can get below 50% for next week, it should be in good condition to still have a good run.

#3 Dead Rising has done well, despite a big drop in sales. It's still tracking to 80k easily. 85k is possible if hardware stays decent.

#4 Def Jam Icon debuts at horrible, but expected numbers.

#5 and #6 Forza 2 and Blue Dragon have strong post-TB hardware drops. This bodes well for both, as they should start seeing strong legs after this week.

#7-10. The budget titles dropped almost perfectly inline with hardware decreases. It seems that these titles were picked up by new 360 owners. Expect the sales of these games to continue to decrease to meaningless (sub 500) levels by next week for all the titles.

Ultimately, if hardware is of a similar level on the MC charts, we can extrapolate a few figures:

Trusty Bell did provide a huge boon to X360 hardware. 4.5k is nothing to balk at for how the 360 has done recently. This means that TB has most likely accounted for around 7,000 hardware units being sold in Japan, if not more. This is based on an average of 2.5k. However, the true average is more like 2,000 to 2,250, giving TB upto 8k h/w moving potential thus far. Expect a far better drop next week. We should see sales @ 3.7k to 4.1k. This is good, because the attach rates for software remain strong for the lower-end titles. DR, BD, TB and FM2 should continue to move decent units, and chart for quite a bit of time to come. DR should hit 82.5k, BD wil easily pass 200k, FM2 could hit 30k, and TB is unknown, but anywhere from 65k to God knows what.

Dead Rising is also now #3 on the X360 all-time charts, and Trusty Bell (from memory) is now #5, edging out Ridge Racer 6, and Nintey Nine Nights respectively.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Im surprised Tenchu-Z is doing as well as it is. I wanted this game myself but was turned off by all the poor reviews. For now Ive decided to wait until it becomes available for cheap. (Ebay, Gamespot etc)

Nice to see Guitar Hero still running strong!

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

The 360 userbase are really big buyers. I mean Tenchu Z... I would have never predicted this selling this good.

Looks like Forza is going to be be the biggest hit since Crackdown on 360.

Both C&C and Shadowrun beating my expectations and becoming minor hits.

I'll probably be in that Guitar Hero II sales next week cause I'm thinking of getting the 360 version. I hate the PS2-PS3 Guitar Hero converter thing...

I'm really curious how Darkness and Overlord are gonna do this week.

My predictions: Darkness = 300k first week right out of the gate and Overlord around 50-75k first week.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

is Darkness really that great in US? I can't see all that hype around it

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):

You mean the Pelican PS2-USB adapter? I have that, but I haven't had a chance to try it out on Guitar Hero 1 or 2. It's weird if it doesn't work as it even has a switch and an LED light specifically set for Guitar Hero 2 gameplay.

The Japanese chart is up. It's a little glitchy, but both system sales and Trusty Bell sales fell down, as expected, although the 360 did still sell better than normal this week. What's wierd is that Saint's Row is charting better than Trusty Bell.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

It's a shame that the 360 is doing so poorly in Japan especially considering some of the games it has. I mean take Dead Rising for example, it's a fantastic game and deserves to sell a lot better than the 73,426 copies it sold in 39 weeks. I'll never understand the Japanese.

Seeing as Shadowrun with the most negative hype ever around it has done 150k in 3 weeks, Darkness sould do extremely well.

Also, 360 fans love shooters and it has online multiplayer.

Add all that to the fact that the game is amazing and you get yourself that prediction. I would be really disappointed if it didn't reach those numbers (Especially the 360 number).

Yeah but Saints Row just released so that's expected. Trusy Bell opening week= 45k, Saints Row opening week= 7k. Big difference.

To be fair though, Dead Rising bombed it's first week, and was DOA from there. It sold ~21k units its first week. The fact is, Dead Rising has had the best legs of any game that's been Z rated as far as I know. DR will end up with ~80k. That's a 4x multiplier, and should bode well for a DR2 in Japan. If DR wasn't Z-rated, it would probably of gotten 100k or even 150k by now.

Chart has been updated with J-numbers.
