Forums - Sales - The new Australian Sales Charts- Pokemon, Forza, PS2/PS3 games

http://kotaku.com/gaming/my-pokemans-let-me-sell-you-them/australian-sales-charts-272647.php

For the week ending June 24, the Australian public purchased many thousands of videogames. Some were purchased more than others. These are the victorious few.

1) Pokemon Diamond
2) Pokemon Pearl
3) Forza 2
4) SingStar Pophits Bundle
5) Buzz: The Megaquiz Bundle
6) Resistance
7)EyeToy Sports Bundle
8) Sims 2 Fashion Pack
9) MotorStorm
10) World of Warcraft

Shame GfK dont dish out actual sales figures, because, and this is just a guess, I'd say an absolute fuckton of Pokemon got sold last week

Wish we had number. Also is it just me or are PS3 games doing better in Australia than Europe? Resistance and Motorstorm have been in the top 10 since PS3 came out in March.

Around the Network

Its just the Australian market - its kinda... odd.

PS3 titles have been up/down, as have Wii titles. Sort of surprised that more 360 titles don't make the charts, but I think the core of the 360 units to be sold - have been sold.

The PS2 is the only console attraction casual sales at the moment. Singstar and Buzz are also being flogged to death via TV advertising (more Singstar though).

Very rarely see any form of ad for *any* other game.

Maybe the PS3 price has come down, or a new bundle has been launched (we already effectively can get one game for free).

From what I last saw, the PS3 was still selling less than 1k / week - I'll be surprised if that #6 spot (Resistance) is selling more than 500units nationwide - per week. That gives you an idea of the strength of the market here ;)

(note - although, I believe most/all PS3 titles are now discounted, with 30% several of them, such as VF5).

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

Even though the market is small, it still means PS3 software is doing well there.

in Australia we Nintendo owners continue to get screwed. I mean paper mario RPG is not out till September and how long ago did that come out in US. I think Mario Party is still a few weeks away? I am sure those titles will be top 10ers when they eventually come out.
